Spartan Opps Episode 4 Redeemed Halo-4 For Me.

Was about to give up on Halo 4 and trade it in, until I played episode 4 of Spartan Ops. For me the Campaign was pretty boring, confusing and character development was so so; Didact's hatred towards Humans isn't explained very well, unless you go through all the terminals. Even then his turn towards "the dark side" seems a bit abrupt. Del Rio, the commander of the most powerful ship in the UNSC fleet is a cowardly idiot. Cortana goes crazy with John desperately trying to hold her together. And the final confrontation with Didact was a bit of a letdown; no real fighting, just him force grabbing you until Cortana steps in so you can stick him with a grenade. Then there was the whole scene with Cortana somehow teleporting MC of the ships before he's vaporized by the nuke. It was silly and under whelming. But, now Spartan Ops is really starting to pick up the pace story telling wise. Character development is vastly better than campaign; Lasky is a much better believable commander than Del Rio, Halsey is starting to become a somewhat more sympathetic character thanks to her interactions with her S-4 guard Thorne. Palmer is getting less annoying. Roland, the Infinity's AI is turning out to be kind of a a jerk, but very funny. Overall the story telling is more enjoyable. The story itself is unfolding nicely. The Covies are front and center again as a villain with the Prometheans serving as back-up. Jul M'Dama is so far, more menacing than the Didact, who by comparison just came off as an a-hole. Both Covenant and UNSC forces are clashing against one another to uncover what could be what's left of the Librarian, who may hold the key to unlocking all of Requiem's secrets and more. Then there is the Promethean's "Souls". This has my interest more than anything. With what happened in New Phoenix, there is a very strong possibility that it could be a storage unit for those who were composed by the Didact. Knowing Thorne lost his family to the incident with the Composer, this knowledge would throw a huge curve ball at his ability to fight the Prometheans knowing what they really are. I can't wait to see how things unfold next week. [Edited on 11.26.2012 1:03 PM PST]

You might wanna put Spoilers in your title. Well I personally like the Campaign very much. But I understand where you are coming from. Spartan Ops is very awesome and well done though. I think they are doing an awesome job of making you want to play the next episode right away.

  • Honestly, it's simply the fact that Thorne guarded halsey that makes it look up. The reason Glasslands and Thursday war sucked is because they hardly gave the other viewpoint a voice. Spartan ops has Thorne step for, clearly not hating Halsey, and HONESTLY wanting to learn more about her, the Spartan 2's, and the reasons/methods.

  • Spartan Ops started out shaky, but this week and last week have been phenomenal. I love driving around Ragnarok in the Warthog splattering Knights and watching them helplessly dissolve, the story is developing beautifully too. Can't wait to see what happens next week.
