How's the Didact alive?

There was a grenade that was shoved into his armor, and he was pushed into a beam that was disintegrating everything. And don't forget about the fall all the way to Earth. He must be some invincible mother-blam!- if he lived all that.

He not only has thousands of years of war experience
...Which wouldn't really do much to stop a nuke.
but he also has extremely powerful armor. Anything chief has would be ineffective against the Didact. That beam only kills humans as well. He could easily withstand the fall.
Proof?
The composer is used to compile humans into data. It wouldn't make any sense if it killed other species. Then you would have other species mixed into human data and I am guessing that would corrupt it. The Didact's armor is most likely a class 18 combat skin. The MJOLNIR suit is class 2. So the Didact's armor and shielding is nine times that of a MJOLNIR suit. Assuming it's a class 18, which would make sense because the Didact is the supreme commander of the forerunner military and would probably wear their strongest armor.
...Assuming class stands for shielding and overall armor and not just a classification of what kind of suit they're wearing.
Here, do some reading.

 • It was a pulse grenade. Those do not do anything.

 •
Posted by: woooooooo13 He was slipspace'd to where ever the portal of the composer lead to, My guess is that the ending dialoge was him talking in a forerunner trial.
He wasn't put on trial, the Librarian just stowed away on his ship and shot him - imprisoning him on Requiem. Everything he says in the Epilogue ONLY makes sense in the context of events that have happened in Halo 4 - he would not say "humanity stands as the greatest threat in the galaxy" after he's just had them devolved into a Tier 7 state...

 •
Posted by: Addison Stone Pulse grenades can't kill anything in campaign and multiplayer. What makes you think one would kill the Didact?
Then you never used pulse grenades properly. The red sphere created by the grenade kills unshielded foes. The explosion that follows turns everything in range into atoms. Just test it out in Halo 4. Step into the red sphere zone, wait for the explosion and then you will see what follows.

 • Whos to say super powerful ancient forerunner war armour cant survive that? Master chief himself fell from space and survived. I think the blast must have just sent him miles away alive, could he have been talking to the precursors at the end?
