For a laptop, what would be some reasons to get one over the other? At the moment, I see that Mac's OS is a bit simpler aaaaaand iTunes?
Reason is I need to figure out if I'm going to be buying a Mac or PC.
GOGOGO!!!

Oh no...

Can we not do this?
-
OSX isn't necessarily simpler; it's just harder to break. As for iTunes, why do you need it?

You should probably look into a different media player. iTunes gets more and more bloated with every update.

There isn't really much difference since you can download Windows on a Mac anyways. And good grief, settle your jimmies, people. I ain't asking for a damned argument, just advantages and disadvantages from both sides.

OH GOD HERE COMES A FLAMEWAR alright OP, if you want a simple, powerful laptop to use for work. Get a Macbook Pro, mine is fantastic. If you are a gamer, get a PC

i prefer macs as i am not too good with computers and they have an easier simpiler interface imo
-
PC > Mac There's your comparison!
-
OSX is a bit more user friendly, but I primarily use it because it's overall better for video editing, graphic design, (and music production if you're into that). If you don't do that kind of stuff, then probably roll with a PC.
-
Just stick with a PC. Keep that hipster crap outta here
-
Hi, I'm a mac. ....and I'm a PC.
-
Mac's seem fine to me for certain things, just overpriced as poop

If you're looking for an every day laptop and can afford it, I would personally recommend a Mac. If you do any programming though (and you don't plan on using Xcode) I would recommend staying away from an Apple product.

OS X is Unix, so it comes prepackaged with Perl, Ruby, Python, among other scripting languages; has native SSH; etc. If that's all you're concerned about, I agree it's not the best choice, and you'd probably be better off getting a cheap laptop and slapping Ubuntu on it. If you don't mind spending a little more, though, MacBooks are a nice option because they're lightweight, look nice, and the OS has a great UI. [Edited on 11.19.2012 10:26 PM PST]

Agreed in that they're fine if not great in general for programming (not sure about glut though), because of the above.

PC>>>>>>Mac [Edited on 11.19.2012 10:56 PM PST]

I like PC's as desktops but I prefer Macs for laptops. I feel like due to the lack of good specs on the mac gives me an incentive to work harder/focus on the -blam!- I need done, whereas PC's in general make me want to game. Yes, I have very low will power. Up to you, though.

Actually, I take back my comment, it's too late ot get involved in something like this. [Edited on 11.19.2012 11:22 PM PST]

Personally PC's are better because its more compatible with the world and everyone knows how to operate windows (besides 8). For gaming PC unless you have an ungodly addiction to touch phone games. Generally if your just someone who needs a comp for work, music/ casual stuff get a PC I think its more suited to casuals although the apples look nice.

OSX > Windows 8, enough said. I prefer the closed, walled, sealed garden of OSX instead of Windows 8 and at least I don't get ads when I try to check the weather application. [Edited on 11.20.2012 12:18 AM PST]

Only neckbeards and your grandma use PCs. Don't be a neckbeard.
