Scientific theory: An analysis of grunt habitats.

I find that it is impossible for grunts to live in their methane-filled world. These grunts, to avoid their entire planet exploding in an full-atomospheric fireball, would have to have sex, sit around, and die. Rubbing two rocks would be dangerous, much less land a covenant carrier that has giant combustion points in the back to pick up grunts and train them; especially training with plasma weapons on their home world. Isn't it? [Edited on 11.05.2012 8:45 PM PST]

  • Methane atmosphere's would not be combustible unless there was an oxidizer to allow combustion. Since there is life on the Grunt home world it is very likely any trace amounts of Oxygen that could have caused combustion on the planet were used up in it's formative years through combustion with the predominately methane atmosphere.

No more needs to be said.

  • Oxygen is flammable, yet we require it to live. Maybe the grunts have a similar situation to ours AKA the methane in their atmosphere only makes up a small part of it.

  • Also, the grunt planet is said that there are areas which have naturally occurring flame spouts (something like that as I recall).

  • Is their atmosphere pure methane, or is it a mix of a mostly inert gas, smaller concentrations of other gases, and only around 25% methane, like with us and oxygen?
