References between Aliens and Halo CE
I was watching the movie Aliens the other day and noticed what seemed like a lot of similarities between the movie and the game.

It almost seems like Halo CE was entirely based off the movie Aliens.

It seems we have a few Islay guys up this piece. 1 in 20 people like it, but the ones who like it... Ardbeg and Laphroaig are my mainstays (the distilleries are right beside each other). Thanks for the props, chicken. Us mensch have to stick together. Just can't get into the Live stuff. Will probably wait to use my H-4 trial week to do the Spartan Ops for achievements. Have gotten used to the one-man-co-op of using my wife's profile (leaving the second controller on the floor) to "achieve." Sad, I know.

I like my scotch on the smokey side. A good Islay such as Laphroig ticles my fancy. I was one of four that showed up to what used to be Battleground Halo/HaloPlant/Planet Halo when Gamespy finally pulled the plug on us. Bungie despised us and never gave us any love when the closing credits rolled at the end of every games after CE. BTW It's on!

I noticed the homage to Hudson, Hicks, Vasquez and others in my first play through of CE. I think bungie freely acknowledged their love for 'Aliens' over the years. Heck, the Marines gave the story a little comic relief that touched a chord with millions of us. And no, you aren't the last two keepers left in this lighthouse. I've seen better Halo forums than this die. Might I suggest a bottle of booze as reward to the last man/woman standing?

Assault - I literally saw Aliens just after it came out (VHS !)...long enough ago that I'd forgotten a lot of it. Saw it more recently and about blammed my blam. To say Halo 'took inspiration from it' is generously respectful. Yikes. (Never understood people's fixation with that film - was a Star Wars guy, but I digest.) This Ringworld thing is completely new avec mois, though...

Not entirely. They were very "inspired" by it, which led to Johnson and a few other obvious references. The basic premise itself is based off of the novel Ringworld. And for the love of god get rid of that -blam!- MLP coup. I'm tempted to ban you from using the script because of that. [Edited on 11.03.2012 8:56 PM PDT]
