Lately I've been seeing more and more of the same users, or at least it seems that way. At what point did you start to actually remember users across sessions?
-
I started recognizing other users on the forums when I actually started paying attention to who was posting what. I can't say when I started paying attention to this, but I would imagine that it happened a couple days after I started posting in the main forums.

About early August.

Not too long, recognized people in private groups and then when I moved to the forums I recognized people there.
-
I made sure to memorize all the cool people listed in popularity threads Obviously.

When their comments become relevant to me.
Posted by: Mass Craziness I started recognizing people pretty quickly. Now, a real interesting question is "when did I start becoming recognized?"
-
It didn't take too long, I think.

Groups allowed me to relate to people better than the wave of comments being posted on topics I viewed.
This +1. If you see people in groups your in you'll notice them in the public forums.

I've been here long enough that I have a harder and harder time recognizing people simply because everyone is coming and going. However, I will occasionally notice people who either post a number of exceedingly witty/insightful comments, people relevant to some sort of bizarre phenomenon, or people continually mentioned by other users in threads they haven't necessarily participated in.
-
I think I remember some people for comments, such as petit and zoid, and a few others. They post a lot, we see their names in the last post of the thread, etc. Some I remember because they always make thread, and eventually, heated debates come up from their posts. I think for me what makes a poster memorable here is when they have some memorable content to their posts, and I see them regularly here.

Around the beginning of the darkness.

I honestly can't remember. It would have been within a few months of me becoming truly active on the forums though. There are always people who stand out for one reason or another.
Posted by: DMX1337 I started posting primarily in TBC, I started noticing a lot of the same names happen over and over. The only notable one being Lobster Fish 2.
<3 I notice most people who come here and post often. I have a good memory.

since the activity is down across the board at bungie.net I recognize a lot more players than I used to.
Posted by: AmX15 I only recognize Foman, and that's because I've played Halo with him before. The salmon text has nothing to do with it. Nothing at all.
And surely his username doesn't help you with recognizing him.
