Girl Tweets Shortly Before Kidnapping

I figured I would share this story posted by our wonderful friends at 4chan. Not really sure what to think of this. Makes me feel...eerie knowing that if this is real it was out there. What are your thoughts Flood? [Edited on 09.30.2012 9:21 PM PDT]

 • Why the hell didn't she call 911? She knew it was bad as she tweeted for someone to call 911, why couldn't she have done it herself?

 • Should have called 911 herself, she wouldn't even have to say anything, they'd turn up on automatic dispatch. Still, it's a shame that had to happen. If it did actually happen. [Edited on 10.01.2012 7:17 AM PDT]

 •
Posted by: Frequency99poopy My money is she was on twitter, learned of the intruder. was flustered and panicked. In the stress of the moment first tweeted to other individuals to call 911 for her and didn't really do it herself.
Well the latest information implies she is attention whoring.

 • Police are now "confident" the girl ran away, and was not abducted http://springfield.patch.com/articles/kara-alongi-teen-who-tweeted-call-911-before-vanishing-still-missing-monday-morning What an attention whore if true.
UPDATE, 8:39 a.m.: In a phone interview with Patch, Clark Police Chief Alan Scherb said that police are now certain Alongi left her home voluntarily and no abduction took place. She is still missing. "She is currently still missing, but we are now confident she left voluntarily," Scherb told Patch. "No abduction, no foul play. We are now investigating this as a missing runaway juvenile." Scherb says police are continuing to persue some leads they found over the night as to Alongi's path and whereabouts, but could not reveal what those leads were as of yet, only stating that they are now certain she left voluntarily. Poop-throwing equivalency would be reached if she had sent out a tweet of gibberish and hoped people understood and called the cops.
You're telling me, that more often than not, if someone said "Call 911" on facebook/twitter, people would actually do it? Because if I'm completely honest, I'd say that's a load of crap. [Edited on 10.01.2012 3:54 AM PDT]

 •
Posted by: MURDUR 587
Posted by: Black Eagle X99 Imagine this. You're in your room. iPod is next to you. You hear your front door unlock and open suddenly, ecen though you're home alone. Your phone is on the other side of the room. Do you: A.Tweet fast, as you try to hide in your closet B.Try to get your phone and dial 911, leaving no chance to hide I wonder.
Tweeting the scenario is just as effective as throwing poop out the window hoping a neighbour sees it and suspects something's wrong. Ideally you should try to get out the house as quickly as possible, barring that you should call the police, barring that you shouldn't use your phone (it's far more likely she tweeted with a phone rather than a ipod) to tweet the scenario! It would be far more effective to either text or tweet someone specifically rather than just ambiguously throwing it out there, no one knows whether they should take responsibility or whether or not it's even serious. Most people get a weapon and call the police as quickly as possible. I mean damn, her twitter followers might not even know where she lives, she didn't even put her zip code in at the end of the message.
Most teenage girls who use twitter are followed exclusively by people who go to her school, so that zip code bit is irrelevant. As for texting someone specific, well, what if that person can't respond? Or is asleep, as this was at nighttime (wasn't it?). And on the poop note, you're just way off. She's specifically telling people the situation and telling them what to do. Poop-throwing equivalency would be reached if she had sent out a tweet of gibberish and hoped people understood and called the cops. And finally, once again, calling requires you to make noise, something you don't want to do if hiding from someone.

 •
Posted by: DarkSunnyboy1 You gotta know how to hide, mang.
If you are in your room when you hear someone intrude in your house, there is literally nowhere to hide. If they're coming after you, like this guy came after that girl, they are going to find you, they will check all the bedrooms from the floor to the ceiling. And even if you're a karate blackbelt, the second they do find you, they won't give you any chance to defend yourself. You will get kidnapped or shot, and you will die. Why even take that chance? The second they find you, your life is in their hands. Immediately. I don't care if you have a knife, they don't either, they will shoot you even if you somehow manage to slash or stab them from behind. You will still not survive. Barricade the door, then hide in your closet or somewhere in your room. They won't be able to enter your room. They might want to waste their ammo trying to shoot their way in, but it's not going to work. They would somehow have to pry the door and pull it out then pull out the barricades one by one. By the time they manage to do it, the police will already be right behind him. Your insurance should pay for the damages, and you get to see your kidnapper in prison. MLG>HLG. • you know, some people are really stupid. here's what I would do if an intruder came into my house Step 1: Call 911 Step 2: Barricade the door, ANYBODY CAN DO THIS. just throw a drawer, bed, whatever the -blam!- you can in front of that door, and I garuntee you, that if you're in a life threatening situation, adrenaline will kick in and you could barricade that door in 30 seconds flat. For me, it's as simple as pushing the bed against the door, then a drawer against the bed. Done. If the intruder tries to force their way in, it pushes the bed against the drawer, which tries to push against the other drawer which is resting against the wall. It's physically impossible to get past the barricade. Step 3: Jump out window and run as far away as you can once the intruder tries to get through your door (if this is an option for you) easy as hell, really. Don't bother hiding. If you hide, you take chances, barricading and strategically escaping, it depends on skill. Then again, dudes are very rarely kidnapped. Ever. and girls probably lack the strength required to do such a barricade. Oh well. [Edited on 10.01.2012 12:19 AM PDT]
