What gives you meaning in life?
Why do you continue along this road, when you know what ever you do it ends in death?
This may seem a dark topic, but I always find it interesing trying to understand why people continue to live. Often I hear people say 'it sure beats the other option' and while I personally agree, I don't see in one sense how you can know.
Disclaimer:
Please people, if you find that you don't have any meaning, please go looking for some rather than choosing to kill youself. The point of this thread is to give people a search for purpose rather than to make them despair.
So Flood, what gives you meaning?
What gives you the will to live?
What are your goals in life and why?
-
Life's boring and death's too much work.
-
The hilarity of several things.
-
Habit.

i continue living because i have to. given the choice, i would probably end my life, but that isn't an option at the moment, because i still have some hope left that my life will change for the better.

Besides the killing myself part. [Edited on 09.30.2012 4:12 PM PDT]

Life doesn't have an inherent purpose, purpose is arbitrary (Damn, I've been using that word a lot today), but that doesn't stop me from assigning decent goals and attempting to better the world.

Family, Friends, Girlfriend, fun

*Puts finger to wrist* For one, my heart's beating. The simple fact that I am alive gives me meaning enough. Sure, I could die in a car accident tomorrow or the next day, or the next after that, etc. But I won't submit to the constant fear of death, or the idea that my life is meaningless because it can end outside of my control. Because it isn't meaningless. [Edited on 09.30.2012 4:15 PM PDT]

Because life can be fun.
-
I'm 15, I got many years of life. Maybe 70 years. I mean 70 -blam!- years. So many things happen everyday. Imagine how much in 70 years.
-
I guess . . . because I don't want to die, and I want to do things in life. I have dreams and what-not, y'know, that gives me something to pursue. [Edited on 09.30.2012 4:12 PM PDT]

Living is better than not any day. Any day
-
Believe me, I've tried to stop. Indeed, I've been killed sixteen times. I lived each time.
-
I just live n stuff happens. Nothing more or less.
-
To see the epic conclusion. But first, I want to know as much as possible. [Edited on 09.30.2012 4:14 PM PDT]

Live for the moment.
-
Because that is the purpose of all life. Because anything is better than the absolute nothingness that is death.
-
Sex, manipulating people into getting what I want.
-
Because life is fun.
-
Because on this road I can keep killin' commies. For Woods, Bowman, and Reznov.

Cause I breathe. [Edited on 09.30.2012 4:17 PM PDT]

Don't worry about it.

Why would I need a reason to live? Living is not a choice I made, it's a default state. I would need a reason to kill myself not the other way around. Why would I kill myself OP? [Edited on 09.30.2012 4:20 PM PDT]

No particular reason. It's probably less boring then being dead.

Why would I kill myself OP?
It's not the default state. You are constantly sustaining it. You are feeding your body several times a day, sleeping, and doing many other things to keep it alive. Why do you bother to do all that?
