I think that it would be really neat if threads would update automatically to the top of the wall if someone posts in it, so we don't have to constantly F5 every 3 seconds or so. Kind of like the Facebook wall.
What do you think?
Yay or nay?
-
hell nay
-
Those of us who have slow trigger fingers would find ourselves clicking on the wrong thread quite a lot. I say nay.
-
Dynamic Forums would probably give me motion sickness from seeing all those threads zip about. I'm fine with static pages that must be refreshed. I think far more than just revamping the forums, private groups will see a ton of love, and there will be heavy integration with Bungie's next game.

Meh. To be honest I would just hit the wrong threads constantly I am sureso... meh. Not a fan.
-
I've seen this feature idea before, and I've come to the conclusion that I would like the option to turn the feature on and off. Better yet, why not have a sort of pause/play button on the side of the forum? :D
-
I don't like this idea altogether, it would be madness. I feel like the immaturity of The Flood would lead to a lot of organized spam attacks. Refreshing the page is fine with me. Let's keep it that way :)
-
I'll go with the flow. Nay!

If there's parallax I'm going to throw up on my keyboard.

*closes eyes and tries to imagine the future* Nope, I got nothin'. Just this image of large blurry boxes. Maybe I need a better antenna.

You're alive! I've been away for far too long. When did you return? I'll edit this to make it relevant I swear... Edit: Cool idea, but I don't think it would work for faster forums like The Flood. And I think it would take a ton of resources. Maybe as a GreaseMonkey script? [Edited on 09.22.2012 12:30 PM PDT]

I have a greasemonkey script for that. It doesn't do it instantly, that would be way too fast. I must say though, it should be optional. It can get annoying for those times when you click the wrong thread because another one bumped in its place. From experience, problems that are true so far:
Posted by: Telec Those of us who have slow trigger fingers would find ourselves clicking on the wrong thread quite a lot. May I modify your suggestion? Instead of automatic updates to the thread "wall", there'd be automatic updates to the reply "wall".

I only used Facebook as an example because it's very popular and most people can relate to it.
Posted by: Brusah That's really immature. I only used Facebook as an example because it's very popular and most people can relate to it.
Now now, don't get too uppity with me. Perhaps you have not been active enough long enough, but there is a common understanding among many members that any thread making a suggestion similar to Facebook will elicit an irrational response from the majority of members for no other reason than that Bungie is not Facebook.
-
Bungie.net is not a social network and I agree with you, but using a successful feature from it doesn't automatically turn it into facebook.
Posted by: Brusah Bungie.net is not a social network and I agree with you, but using a successful feature from it doesn't automatically turn it into facebook.
No, no, you misunderstand. I am not saying that this feature would actually be bad. I am mocking the general sentiment that any feature of Facebook is inherently bad. Because whenever somebody suggests a chat feature or a like feature, the answer is invariably "this isn't Facebook," rather than a rational defense or counterargument.
-
Hmm, not sure if I post in a thread I usually keep a tab on it anyways.
