So I recently had some thread posts and PM's with some younger members about being too old to be on this site.
Personally I think the demographic for Halo is older than teenager but I'd like to hear from the community about age on B.net?
Also for reference I am 36 and here's some recent gamer age statistics from Australia -
[quote]Average age for an Australian gamer is now 32...

LOL! YOu're never too old for video games, most of my friends are older than 25 and the oldest of my friends is 40 and he is not the only one I know, I personally don't think you need a certain age to be in a forum or play video games of any kind. [Edited on 09.19.2012 11:35 PM PDT]

There's no age limit to enjoy games. The guys and girls making them are older than us(some of us) and we're all allowed to enjoy them. I'm 18, been on here since I was 13. I honestly think 17+ is my desired demographic. There are exceptions of course. Halo is deep, and what Bungie does it incredible. Anyone who appreciates it deserves to be here.

There are a few old timers here. Obviously mostly of the H3ITWP folks are older. Bungie is an older company, they have plenty of legacy customers, people that have been playing their games for decades.

Times have changed, no age is too old for video games or Bungie.net. It's going to start getting weird once my B.net account's age is older then new members real age ;,,,,,; [Edited on 09.19.2012 11:50 PM PDT]

I don't think you're ever too old to play games or post on b.net. But I think that you can be too young..

I know I've been playing since around Myth & Marathon so that gets my Bungie age way past Halo CE days.

This sort of idea is weird and entertaining at the same time.

Most of the people who are around from the early Halo days are in there 20's some into their 30's.

I get a lot of silly comments on my you tube channel about being too old to be into gaming. Mostly I look at them with amusement. I was actually surprised, and pleasantly thrilled, by how many salt and pepper sporting gamers showed up to the Bungie meet-ups at PAX this year. I was equally surprised at how many people in my age group showed up to a recent midnight release, but it probably isn't as astounding as it used to be. Face it, most of the original console gaming crowd is well in their thirties and forties now. There's quite a few of us that are well outside of the teenage demographic, we just don't tend to be as vocal in online interactions as the younger set.

You're the man! Nobody should tell you how to live your life! Unless of course that what they say is some pretty good advice.
-
Nah, OP, you're right in the same age range as most of us old-schoolers around here. Anybody who says you're too old to be here or too old to be a gamer simply has a vastly inaccurate view of this community, and that's a fact.

The way generations are being brought up now I'd say in 50 years we will have 60 year old gamers etc. Wouldn't expect that to be common now though.

i'm pretty sure our generation will prefer video games to shuffleboard

Man I don't believe in an age and video games. I mean, the employee's at Bungie are probably all over thirty years old, yet they freakin' create the games! Games are made for fun and everyone's entitled to have some occasional fun, no matter what age. [Edited on 09.20.2012 2:10 AM PDT]

I don't think it matters at all and like others have said, it's our age range representing the gaming demographic. I'm 34 and my kids are 13. They also have accounts on here although they never post. I sometimes find the humor in the flood to be a lot like my kids humor, so it's now a way to stay in touch with what their age group is into. It's odd how it all works out, but I'm glad we have things in common. Gaming is a great way to bond! [Edited on 09.20.2012 3:09 AM PDT]

I've been here since 2008 (despite my accounts age) and I was 14 at the time. I'm 18 now, in case you don't feel like doing the math.

I'm 37.

No issue with you posting that at all. Side note: It is great to see all the responses in this thread from both young and old gamers. Also in case any of the older crowd haven't seen this site before [url=http://www.2old2play.com]2Old2Play[/url], I'd be more active there but only a few of them are Aussies for matching up in games. Probably more of a USA crowd but I do enjoy the site/community there. [Edited on 09.20.2012 3:08 AM PDT]

You're pretty close to the average.

I'm 32 and i feel that video games are now a form of mainstream entertainment. Saying i'm too old for games is as ridiculous as saying i'm too old to watch T.V, go to a concert, read a book or go to the movies.

You can't be too old to play video games.

You are never too old to do what you want. It'ss your life and your decision.

Nothing will ever compare to being around during the early days of video games... because that's when it had the most camraderie and potential. Just imagine being a 13 year old and thinking that it will be only a matter of time before we acheive highly realistic graphics and everything expanding exponentially. Right now I think we platued on what our technology will be able to to acheive and what gamers want out of a video game, in fact it has been stated that we'll be seeing a lot more rehashes and sequels to our pre-existing IP's in our current Console generation- and everything will begin to look like the music industry. I'm glad I at least got to be able to see the progression of technology from 8-bit 2D all the way to HD 3D online... I think we recently passed what I consider the Classical era of gaming, now were in the twilight as far as ambition and consumer expectations are concerned.
