Halo Books Vs. Halo Game series

I see alot of the fanbase has taken quite an intrest of detail of the Halo novels. That's great, I'm glad your reading and using your imagination to picture such wonderful stories. There's a schism between the Books and the Game series though. Would someone please inform me which started first.....the game or the book series? Thank you. Although it is fun trying to make sense of everything...trying to relate everything to the novels. Just stop. Please. No. No more. What I mean is...yea, dig up obvious info and chat about it. I just dont like the fact that everyone seems to think they are "Prophets" and think they know everything that SHOULD be in the upcomming game. Example: The number of spartans on the ground of Reach should be the exact number posted in the books. Some particular movies are not fully based on it's novel (or comic) but it's ok! Some movies turn out great and some turn out bad. Same for games...if you stick to a movie story line and create a game on that...the results are pretty bad (Ex: Transformers revenge of fallen, Spiderman games, etc...) Point is.....I hope this new game does not follow through on everything on the books. I would like for this game to have new suprises and not everything i think I know about already that should be in it. Let it free, let it become what it is. I'm quite sure millions of people will buy the game and will not be disappointed over the game not following a Book.

  • Well the games came before the books. The books were created to expand the cannon and make more of a lively universe. In that area it defiantly succeeded. I agree with you though. I want there to be surprises in this game. If they go on the books word for word then nothing will be a surprise and it will lose alot of the "wow factor". I think they should keep the key events of what happened to stick to the cannon. The battle of Reach for example. Other than that I want to see a new and fresh storyline with twist and turns.
