Post your ideas for ODST 2!

Only the hardcore ODST lovers come here, so it's up to us to turn this thread into a hypothetical compilation of what [i]could[/i] have been a sequel to Halo ODST. Let's come up with a plot, some key gameplay elements, modes, etc. and share them here. I'll keep this thread updated and gradually organize it as our design progresses. I'll start by listing some things we can go off of: [b]Story:[/b] New Mombassa wasn't fully explored in ODST, so we could say that there were other ODST's in this city that fought in the battle in a different way. We could experience the story from different "Echo Team" who encountered Buck and his squad at some point during fighting in the city. Echo has their own mission to complete within the city. Or we don't even have to do it during this point in the city. The ODST's can drop in before the carrier goes into slip space and help the chief in old mombassa. The ODST's don't even have to be in the city--we can drop them to a completely different battle. Heck, we can even drop them on Reach and have them assist in the battles there. What about Harvest? Though if we drop them there, we lose the urban feeling, which was great and could be expanded on. [b]Gameplay:[/b] > The ODST's can now Sprint at all times. > VISR mode now does infrared and thermal modes, in addition to its night vision > You also have a standard flashlight in case VISR is too glaring > Assassinations are possible for ODST's as well (pioneered by Buck!) > You can pick up biofoam like equipment to heal yourself and your teammates later on > Compass comes back off course--anything to add to the detective feeling [b]Features[/b] > Fully customizable ODST's > Firefight is back (pretty insane...) with ODST inspired modes > New "Battle Bro" mode for 2 that gives you specific missions to complete > Actual multiplayer mode with various styles of gameplay and tactical combat > OPERATION--Invasion-style gameplay, except ODST's have to complete objectives and elites/brutes have to stop them > Play as Brutes and Elites [Edited on 03.02.2011 10:17 AM PST]

  • Instead of dropping and then crashing and then slowly blasting the hatch off, make it like "Prepare to Drop," Land. Kick the door off. Start battle straight away. Also, I think full-scale battles would be cool (Once again Prepare to Drop trailer) or maybe even ACTUALLY boarding a Covenant Ship this time.

  • More customisation Let us choose from different available missions (multiple storyline/endings) and let us drop into combat and advance from there. Firefight just like ODST but better, not watered down Reach n00b fight. Many AIs on teh screen, and all active (no AFK Reach AI), good draw distance, angry AI that charges you and wants to get you, not cowardly (yet again reach). Full customisation of weapon and equipment, give each ODST a role in the battlefield (like in the new Resident Evil or Gears 3).

  • i like these ideas. -character specific loadouts -semi-rpg upgradable skills/armor -larger story like more that one region to have missions. -prototype odst mk II gear -command uplink where they give new orders or advice on enemy dossier.

  • I would like to have Halo Reach: ODST. I want to explore Reach with Buck and Dutch. You could even play at the part in which Noble Six leads Buck to safety. For Armor Abilities: Sprint Jetpack (like the Bullfrogs) VISR Mode (It would be better as an Armor Ability; It would enhance your vision, give you a map, and have a feature in which you highlight an object and it gives you intel on said object.) Night-vision would act as the brightening feature, being available at all times. I'd like ODST customization; Dare's helmet, Buck's chest, Mickey's backpack, etc. Also, I think It'd be cool if we could see Rookie get hired into the squad. Give him a little backstory, ya know? I like the tactical combat thing, but for multiplayer? I'm thinking that'd be better for firefight, like completing objectives. (Example: hold a certain area, assassinate an Elite General) It'd be compatible for "Battle Bro" as well. And, I'm as much of a Bulletstorm fan as I am Halo fan, and I LOVE Bulletstorm's Echo mode. If any Halo game would work for an echo mode, It'd be ODST. And as for Harvest....I think the best way to experience that would be to play as a Marine. Yes, I just said that. Marines were the first to encounter The Covenant, so it's only fitting. And don't forget...Sgt. Johnson was the first to kill a Covenant soldier. If I could play as him, and get that first kill, I'd be the happiest camper in the galaxy. :) So those are my thoughts!

  • they should be on harvest and the cusomizable armor is awsome idea. i would say having new characters but they should be on the spirit of fire.

  • Fully customisable ODSTs. Includes colour, gear and weapons. More Cutscenes like "Prepare to drop" Include the elites Weaken the brutes, just a bit Add skulls Stroy: Battle of installation 05. (Show the bits where the marines fought, and not the MC, but add an MC cameo) Firefight: Makes more enemies appear in a wave, and just/more customisable as Reach's firefight Add online. Instead of Spartans and elites makes it Brutes VS ODST's. Oh, And make the silenced weapons actually silent. They were pointless to have in ODST.   • You should have different, custumizable ODST variants, like each ODST squadmate had slightly different attachements.

  • As much as I like this idea I don't think it should happen. They are already coming out with two more games. Any more games and the franchise would be ruined.

  • Slow down how fast you run after picking up a turret. Actually, make it so you cannot even pick up a turret. That just is not cannon coordinated.

    If it gets released then maybe they should do a PC version with mod tools as well. Maybe they could even port the best mods over to the 360.
