Halo PC CD-Key?

Just wondering if anyone can direct me to the topic with all the info about the Halo PC bonus. The search function was useless as all I could find was "OMG bring Reach to PC" topics, or if someone could just answer my question then that would be cool too. I know the bonus hasn't been been revealed yet but I'm wondering if people can still get in on the "offer". Could I buy a new copy from a electronic retailer or will I need to buy a "used" copy in the hope that it works? I'm a completionist and although not getting in on this wouldn't be the end of the world but it will always urk me every time I play.

 • Bungie stated that going out and buying a new one is pointless to get the flair. A few months back they looked at key codes that were still being used and are going to be codes for Reach. Sorry man, don't feel too bad I haven't had Halo:PC for a while cause my old computer died and I never got around to putting it on my new one. I'm thinking a lot of people might be missing out on this one.

 • Bungie has stated that new copies won't work, and I'm not sure whether or not a used one would work, but it might be worth a try.

 • the bonus has been reveald in a way. its a small "flair" showing that you played it. and not to worry to get it for completionist matters cuz im that way too. its not armor or anything. BUT the question about buying a new or used one. buying a brand new one would not work. and ill tell you why in a bit. but maybe buying a used copy might. see it depends on when and if the key was activated. having a new game will not have the key activated prior to the time when they colected all the activations. so im saying posibly a used game bacause it would have had to been activated before a certain time. see the used game your getting could be just a new game sold because they new they wernt going to get the flair. get my drift lol.

 • How about you don't be an ass, huh? There is absolutely zero reason to do this, unless you were part of the Halo PC community at some point.

 • You need to get a Halo CE PC CD key that has been used online BEFORE the 26th of May, 2010. If you have a key that has been played online ever before, only if it was once, it has been activated and will work. So if you find a seccond hand game, it MIGHT work, if the previous owner EVER played it before online it will work. Unfortunately, without the list of CD Key's that Bungie's had, if you don't get it from someone who had played it online before, there is really no way of finding out if it will work. You'd have to wait and see. So @ an above poster, seeing as you played it online on your previous computer, it should work, even though you didn't have it on your newer computer.

 • Basically the first or second reply was right, but the difference is if you've ever played Halo PC you can use it to get the visual flair. They took the list of CD Keys down a few months ago (they posted an exact date in the community forum, I think.) So if you've ever played Halo PC and you still have your key, you're set to go! It's all explained in the community forum post. I'll try finding it and linking it in a minute. *Edit* Linky. Go down to the eight or ninth post (it's in yellow) and it'll explain everything +1 for big link :P [Edited on 08.07.2010 9:05 PM PDT]

 • How do they know I played though? I'm not sure I remember having to make an account to play Halo PC online that was attached to my Email or anything.

 • When you enter the multiplayer lobby the game registers the CD Key that went online and Bungie gets a list of how many specific people played the game (each CD key is independent and will not work on more than one computer at a time.) This is how they get a count for how many people are logging in to play every day/week/month, and they'll know your CD key because it'll be on that logged list that he pulled on the 26th. If you ever even went into the multiplayer lobby you're good as long as you still have your (independent) CD Key. If you lost your Key and still have the game on your computer you're in luck. Halomaps.org has a Cd Key recovery tool that will tell you what your specific CD Key is. I'm just not following this.

 • Yes. a few weeks before the game is released Bungie will show us the magical way to redeem this flair. But at the end of the day all you'll have to do is enter your Halo PC CD Key in to some form, possibly including your Gamertag and you'll be set to go.

 • So can I register my CD key for Halo CE, decide to change my flair, then change it back to the Halo CE flair? Or does the CD Key only work once?
