Two awesome behind the scenes articles in two days! Keep it up Urk!
Now it's my turn to interject. This seems to be a common theme. Are all our maps based on Hang 'Em High? "Oh, yeah," Carney says. Cotton agrees. "We start with Hang 'Em High every time." "That's what 'mass out' really means import Hang 'Em High!" "How could Hang 'Em High become a valley?" "Start with Hang 'Em High, cut it in half" "What if we floated Hang 'Em High in the sky above Hang 'Em High?" "Flip it over and it's Construct!" Carney is the first to flinch.
Easily the funniest part of the article. Everybody in the study room I was in started staring at me as I laughed. [Edited on 05.27.2010 10:42 AM PDT]

Nice write up! I can just envision in my mind's eye Carney getting up out of his chair and strafing around the office while West Side Story snapping all along. 8-]

Awesome article. I've never been much a fan of The Pit, just kind of got used to it and warmed up to it a bit I suppose... But I do have to say, I'm definitely a fan of the gray/blue color scheme more so than what we have now. :P

Who doesn't love some Hang 'em High?

Good work, keep it coming.

Very nice! I love these behind the scene articles.

Nice story. Ya what's up with those chain-link fences, what happened to them over 500 years time????

*twirls mustache* Curious... Curious gorge.

urk, do more of these. These post-mortems on maps are goddammed incredible, better than the BWUs and only less than Bungie Podcats.

Cool, I was hoping you'd do a write-up on The Pit, and I knew it would be awesome!
-
It's really cool to see how these spaces progressed throughout the dev cycle. Glad to see them again, and I loved how the pit turned out!
Posted by: Fists High Angel The first image reminds me of the Mirror's Edge training facility
Same here. Reading this and seeing that first image really makes me want to model this map like that, maybe adding some catwalks to the top.

I <3 Bungie

Funny how one of the most well-balanced multiplayer maps of all-time came out of a bunch of ideas that didn't pan out. Keep these interviews up, Urk!
-
Wow, that's a really cool article. Looking forward to see more of these. Keep it up, urk! :)
-
Hey, there's cameras in Sword Base... and a control room...
-
Nice I love reading about how maps are made and what they were going to look like. And Urk make sure there is still something to read about in the WUD (weekly update). You have given use alot during the week thanks =).
