How Old Were You When You First Experienced Halo?

I was about 11 or 12 at a friends house. I didn't have an xbox yet so I was really excited every time I went over because I knew we'd play Halo!. The good memories are still there though. You? EDIT: Don't forget to tell of the first experience or memories! [Edited on 04.27.2010 5:19 AM PDT]

 •
Posted by: jtulkas I was 16 when it came out. Before Halo CE came out, my friends would have Goldeneye 007 N64 parties every weekend. As soon as Halo came out, that is what we jumped to.
This is my EXACT story, actually, haha. Halo CE dropped when I was a junior in high school. We were obsessed with Goldeneye (and Doom before that), but once Halo CE came out, we spent hundreds of hours playing LAN games against each other.

 • I had knew about Halo since I was like 6 but I didn't like it because when I played it (very few times) the people would know everything about the game and wouldn't let me even get to know the controls but then my mom hooked up with a guy when i was 9 (after divorce) and he had an xbox and combat evolved and i fell in love <3

 • Ah the nostalgia... I was 8 or 9, in. The rowdy neighborhood teens let me in their house and we played Halo 2 I got frustrated playing 4 player splitscreen on Lockout. But I loved the graphics and complexity. I waited a few month game. My friend Johnny had an Xbox and Halo 2 as well. I met him later on and we played Halo 2. I got my butt handed to him the first few months I played with him. But then I slowly got better and he couldn't hold the skill on me. 2009, I was 10 and I got the 360 and Halo 3. I was so excited, the campaign was brilliant. I was drawn towards the game every day I played it. I got Xbox live 2 months later. I quickly made about 20 friends I had from school mostly. I had so many great custom games with my friends. Late 2009 my birthday came and I received all the map packs. My god I became so good my friends actually envied me, I thought of becoming MLG. I got ODST in Christmas. My first beta, Halo Reach. I became frenzied to buy the full game. It was a VERY good beta. Halo Reach came out and I got it. My mind was blown. Good graphics amazing gameplay. Man, It was fun. I had so many good times playing. I Have had so many good times and counting. GT: MoB x Epsilon if anyone wants to play custom games w/ me.

 • I was about seven or eight when I first played halo combat evolved. It was at my cousins place which was about a one hour drive from where i live but I will never forget the memories playin splitscreen with my cousin and his friends. But I would get owned by them since I truly sucked at halo. but still good memories

 • I was thirteen or so, so I guess you could say I'm new to the franchise. I started out with Halo PC, then bought a 360 later on and ODST and jumped feet first into Halo 3's multiplayer. Good times were had. After that I became an avid Halo fan thanks to Machinima, Arby n' The Cheif, Red vs Blue, etc. You get the idea. I watched Halo 3's E6 2006 Trailer for the first time and it gave me chills; I knew I had to get that game.

 • 2001? I was... 24. (Holy Sh** !!!) My friends and I were so hyped about the Xbox back then! We waited for it to come out, we were so dam* tired of the Playstation. Even though it was a risk (new console trying to grab a foothold of Sony and Nintendo's dominance) all the game hype we had heard about Halo had convinced us. We bought our Xbox's just before Halo dropped, and we bought our copies on the day that Halo: Combat Evolved dropped. We almost couldn't get the packages open fast enough (I'm surprised that the discs survived the onslaught...), we figured out how to link four Xbox's together, and had our first LAN party! Oh the magic! No more split screening, we could have multiplayer without having the screen divided up into 2-4 little plots... It's an experience I will never forget. Since then, when Xbox Live was debuted for/with Halo 2 (I was shocked in the ViDoc that Bungie pretty much wrote Xbox Live and made it work. That's so cool!), Matchmaking and online gaming has gotten so great! But I will never forget buying an Xbox just for Halo and taking that risk, and having it be the best decision I have ever made in gaming.

 • I was in 3rd grade, so about 6 or 7. It was the first time i ever went over to my friends house, and the first time id ever heard of the xbox or halo. we played The pillar of Autumn, and i got lost as soon as i hopped out of the cryo-pod, pissed my friend off so much haha. Then I didnt play it again for a couple years when i was invited over to that same friends new house for a sleep over, and we had a massive LAN party with all our friends. it was awesome.
