I'm sure you've all thought about this before, but, how come there is no LMG in Halo? and the detachable turret does not count. Do you think they are gonna add one in Reach?
-
maybe just look at the reach logo above, the big spartan has a LMG
-
halo weapons have LMG power in compact form.
-
but that is kind of a dedicated weapon to Jorge
-
im not sure they really need one...
Posted by: stevo RaZoR maybe just look at the reach logo above, the big spartan has a LMG
Its actually more of a HMG but your point is still valid.
-
I don't think they would fit because of turrets and stuff.
-
There's no confirmed SMG for Reach either. In combat, though, the LMG is used more for support and suppression than for actual killing. I can't see a Spartan performing that role.
-
A LMG is used for supression... spartans dont use supression tactics. Instead of scaring their target, they just kill 'em instead.
Posted by: TheWeapon117 but that is kind of a dedicated weapon to Jorge
That LMG has been in nearly every Halo game I think.

You know, this brings up a good point, though. Why don't the Spartans have more weapons specifically designed for them? There's the laser, but marines and ODSTs clearly are able to use it. But, c'mon, these are 7-foot-tall juggernauts. They should be able to easily use weapons with greater firepower. I can foresee some design problems for game purposes if you went in that direction, but it could have been a cool thing for them to explore. And Cyber, I believe Jorge's machine gun is supposed to be entirely new to the series, along with the cannon/mortar thing we've seen him holding on the GI cover. [Edited on 03.15.2010 8:50 AM PDT]

maybe a spartan wouldnt use them but marines and army would LMG's are very important to combat operations

It could be a power weapon. Of course LMGs are used for suppressive fire, but that doesn't mean you have to. I have wanted a light machine gun in Halo for a long time. Maybe it could have the ROF of the Halo: CE Assault Rifle or something. BTW a light machine gun isn't going to be huge. It should be almost as large as a sniper rifle, a little shorter. It wouldn't be that huge thing you see Jorge lugging around.

Spartans are just really big, all their guns are light machine guns if you held them yourself.

Uh... all guns are used for killing. duh. An LMG offers a big punch, large magazines, and can kill a target REALLY fast. Its a perfect Spartan weapon.
Posted by: AlkaVirus Spartans are just really big, all their guns are light machine guns if you held them yourself.
Maybe if you're 5. Ever notice the normal Marines carrying those weapons? Yeah, they're normal sized weapons. (other than the pistol, apparently that's huge for an average Marine)
