Bungie must truly be Masters of Manipulation
So here's the thing. The community seems to be getting excited about the news released earlier this week in an update that new PvE content will be coming. I sit back looking on at this in awe. I mean Bungie has literally swindled the community here, and absolutely no one seems to have a clue.
Quite some time ago I posted on here when people were arguing about light levels and some were on the side that light levels didn't matter, because after 311 you basically do max damage in Heroic Mode King's Fall. My argument back then was simple. No you didn't need 311 to comfortably complete HM raid, but the closer you get to 320 the better it would be when Challenge Mode launches which leaks were indicating contained 330 max light, and which common sense would dictate had tougher enemies to face off against.
In stepped Bungie releasing Challenge Mode, which everyone by now agrees is not at all a challenge, as the requirements were so simple they are laughable. Outside of Oryx CM which featured the teleporting Orges, CM was a breeze at release. Same light requirements, same mechanics, same fights.
So now, Kotaku breaks some news that Destiny 2 is delayed, and Bunglevision finally goes on record stating that the roadmap for destiny includes some new content in spring, a major content update later this year and a full sequel in 2017. And people treat this like gold? People wake up. What Bungie is releasing in spring is what the Challenge mode was originally supposed to be.
Basically they found a way to string out the content so that it would last a lot longer, but in effect they had the community wait for at least 6 months for the release of Challenge Mode, which more likely than not will not be any new content. Maybe a new mechanic but that's not going to be new content any more than HM King's Fall doesn't count as new content. Furthermore, what they will do now, is move the artificial max light level from 320 to 330 giving some people a reason to start the exact same grind all over again. The only real news here is that there will be new content later this year and any idiot can figure that would have to come to fill the time between Year 2 and Destiny 2 following the delay from the expected time of September 2016.
Come on guys, I've said this before but I think I need to say it again here. the time to stand up and be counted is now. Make a statement with your wallets. Do not buy into the hype. Stop supporting nebulous microtransactions and shabby content releases. It's time Bungie shows us the money before we spend a dime. Don't pay for any new DLC until they give a clear indication of what the plan is for this game and start making some actual improvements that the community wants.

Many of us are happy that Bungie [i]finally[/i] said something that held a bit of merit. And that truly is the state that the community of PVEers are in. So starved of content and answers that even the smallest amount of info is accepted as gospel. Another psychological mechanism employed by Bungie no doubt. Good yes, get out of jail free card no. There's really no way for them to repair the damage done.

Some people are just looking for any sort of sign that Bungie might be picking their game up a bit or a sense of relief that they are finally saying something though seems like their hands were forced, might be less then exciting though sure. False hope? Maybe I think people just want to feel like they are getting their money's worth cause so far with TTK a lot of people really aren't feeling that.

After many months of trying my damndest to get people to see the utter contempt Bungie MUST have for their fanbase, i have come to the conclusion that the people wh want to play Destiny will, and no amount of common sense will ever penetrate their consciousness. So, just treat this place like you would a drug addled, torn down old neighborhood.

3 RepliesLook we don't know what they are planning. I highly doubt you have a crystal ball to read the future. Destiny is a fun game and a lot of people love it. Let them fu.cking be. TTK was a great expansion. Did they f.uck up? Yes. Was all bad? No. Bungie made bad decisions and it has cost them. I'm pretty sure they are well aware of this. I will keep playing not because I'm a Bungie fan but because I really like the game. The mechanics, the weapons, the art. There is a lot of good things in the game. If you keep concentrating only on the bad, why even play. There are plenty of games out there. I jump from game to game and still enjoy Destiny when I log in. Now, take a chill pill and let the desticles be desticles I don't think they affect you in any way. A doubt that the big update is only going to be about TTK. Most likely we will see year 1 coming back. An a lot of us were asking for this. Let's just wait and see. I'm sure that what ever it is will give still give you a reason to bitch. So cheers to bitching and moaning because that's what most of the people here does.

And I think most players are already aware of it. I prefer to look at it as more of a separation state of mind. and it's my guess other players do the same thing. Playing the game and disassociating Bungie from it while they play. I believe this line of thinking also applies to transactions. In other words we know what they do, but we put it in the back of our minds because we enjoy the core gameplay. Obviously however, this will not continue if Bungie keeps manipulating playtime with little or no new viable content. The point I'm making is I do not believe it's fair to label these people as blind Bungie sheep with no clue. Is there a percentage of these types of players, absolutely, does it make up the bulk of existing Destiny players, no.
