If twenty moldering shards could raise an item one light level, it would make the raid extremely relevant and provide people a real, clear path to max light.
At this pace, it will still take substantial raiding to get to 320, but it would be fair.
To raise a 310 item to 320, for example, you would need 200 moldering shards. That's a lot of raiding. After that much raiding, you deserve a 320 whatever.
This would increase raiding, increase the pleasure felt in rewards, and give people a reason to do the entire raid instead of just the challenge mode for the week. It should be changed immediately!!!

My self, J, and many others have posted this suggestion multiple times with no acknowledgment from bungie. It would create a reason to grind the raid which they want and solve the 319 issue. Bump in hopes your post is seen.

Just make etheric light raise any item 1 light level and stick them in the loot table for Vog, Crota, PoE and Nightfall. Job done.

At least they could turn into Legendary Marks, since that's what Oryx ends up dropping by proxy for most people still using these. If they turn it into a Reputation dump, I'm quitting the game in cold-blood.

The first should ideally be going through the raid, learning the mechanics, so the raid drops feel less forced to be something relevant. If I get a good drop in a raid, it's a nice ending. The fight should ideally be the fun part.

I think that Bungie should make Etheric Light raise light level. Whether is it by 3, 5, or 10 (my original suggestion), with no shards or marks required since Etheric Light is earned in PoE. I like your idea regarding moldering shards.

Won't even matter soon, spring update equals higher light and 320 will be left behind. It is a good idea but much to late... they are giving us a 320 ghost.
