I enjoy the Crucible. I've always enjoyed it. It's only been since TTK dropped that I started playing it just for fun. But a month or two into the release, I had pretty much caught on to SBMM. For months on end, I never once saw a grimoire below 4000, and 75% of my opponents used TLW and a sniper rifle (I am guilty of this loadout).
The needle has allegedly been pushed towards more connection and less skill-range, but I honestly can't detect much of a difference. And frankly, it's ridiculous. Matchmaking takes ages to find people to pair me with, and it's to the point where I recognize names in Skirmish. I'm at the end of my tether.
Since the Crucible is basically all that Destiny has to offer me, I'm forced to restrict my time on it. I enjoy sweating every few matches or so, but I shouldn't be forced to do it every match.
Also, as a parting thought, some people have asserted that SBMM is good because it keeps people like me from ravaging lower level players. Well, you aren't safe. In fact, SBMM allows me to specifically target you. I'm a Sherpa, and it's not difficult for me to find a low-level player to bring me into PvP. Matchmaking does its job and tosses our allegedly "weaker" team into a weak lobby. I pull down 30-40 kills. So, SBMM doesn't protect you.
