Skill is a crutch
Lets face it. The meaning of crutch in real life is a stick used by a person with their legs broken to help them walk. If you take away those crutches from the guy/gal, they won't be able to walk. People call Thorn in Destiny a crutch because people think that people who use Thorn won't do good in PvP without Thorn. This applies to skill too. If you take skill away from someone, they will suck in PvP.
