Why not make a PvE event?

Every time there's a new event, it's going to be PvP. I, like many many others, don't like the PvP side of Destiny. Sure it's fun to go in occasionally and play around, but that's not why I've stuck around since beta and it really sucks the fun out of PvP when it's a grind. I know Bungie is totally against any new PvE content. That's why I was thinking of making current PvE elements a viable solution to the lack of anything being done. Why not make a PoE event? Just make a level 40 one for a week and have it disappear after the event is done? You can create more variety for the individual rooms now that the Taken are here. You could even make it have an unlimited amount of rounds so you won't have people raiding the chests at the end (or make it 10 rounds and give a drop after the 5th and a chance at better loot after 10). Just make bounties that refresh daily like IB and turn them in to Variks or Petra for an event specific rank. These are just random ideas I'm throwing out. I'm sure there's way better ideas to make PoE function as a weekly event, but you get what I'm saying. There is current content that's not being utilized in year 2 that would only take minor tweaking to make an event while also making players happy that something from year 1 was reintroduced (even if it was only for 1 week). Another thing a PvE event would solve is the cheating that plagues every PvP event. There will always be players who find a way to give themselves an unfair advantage in a PvP mode where winning is all that matters. You're pretty much asking for it when it's setup that way. Sure there will be people finding cheeses and such, but let your AI be the victim for once instead of us Guardians who are trying to play legit. That reason alone is why a lot of people hate the current events. Edit: Hey, this is trending?! Didn't expect that. Thanks for the input, support, and criticisms.

  • I don't mean to raid on your parade but I think that's why they added challenge mode which isn't even a challenge. I do agree with you completely tho

  • Agreed. Here are my thoughts on more interesting dynamic pve content. -Raid designs and PVE content that allows for other types of communication than verbal to be more inclusive of deaf players. -Keep pvp and pve separate. Meaning nerfing weapons for pvp should not impact pve game play. -Freelance matchmaking for raids and nightfall. -Timed live random public events that put the Tower and other hub areas at risk. Guardians that are online at the time have to ward off waves of enemies climbing into the Tower, attacking citizens, factions. A notification sent from the app can alert guardians who are offline to log in during the 15 minute or so event. Guardians could also text or call their friends to log in to help. Based on number of Guardians and your performance, you get end game or better rewards. Youll also see damage to the tower or certain areas like the vault or ship dock are damaged and inaccessible for a few hours if the guardians in the tower or location aren't successful in pushing back the attack in time. Or the entire Tower could become unavailable for a period of time so you have to go to the reef or somewhere else to access the vault or get bounties. This is would make destiny feel more urgent, alive, and persistent. Logging into the game Id see a damaged tower, injured faction or citizens walking around based on what happened while I was offline. If the guardians who were online were successful, they'd have gear on worthy of their success in pushing back the hive, cabal, taken, or vex or a new enemy (each time it's a random enemy invasion attempt). The difficulty of the attack is determined by number of guardians and their "light" levels. -Also, open up the damn city to be explored and also be an area for patrol and public events. Every planet should have npc quest givers, possibly pockets of alien resistance and agents who give faction reps. Based on faction rep, you could find safety on various planets they have set up camp or small bases. That would come in handy if the timed Tower or Reef invasion left those areas inaccessible after a failed defense. With games like assassins creed and witcher, why are there so many invisible boundaries in destiny?? Why does it also feel empty in the tower and "open world" environments?" More life, less invisible walls. Feels inexcusable. #Feedback

    • Destiny 2 better have more then 1 raid and 5 strikes with release that's a joke of pve content 2-3 raids 10-15 strikes would be perfect imo

      • PVP content is only being recognized due to the lack of pve content. if it was balanced, no one would be upset.

      • Unfortunately Bungie doesn't have enough content for a PvE event. Their answer will be........Destiny 2.

      • Stop that. They can't be expected to actually support more than half of the game we paid over $100 for. Next thing you will expect them to actually treat their customers like they are the ones that pay their salaries...what is this craziness you are spouting? PvE in Destiny? Pffffftttt.

      • Yeah, it's disappointing that PoE was discarded so soon after it was put into the game. The dumbest thing bungie did was removing y1 content from relevancy.

        • Pvp is cheaper and faster to pump out, pure and simple. Pve requires actual planning and work. Crimson doubles is a reprint of a test mode from 2014/early 2015 that no one enjoyed when it was tested. They waited long enough and found a way to polish a discarded turd and call it new content.

          • Borderlands used to have special events. Beat a specific boss in a quest line guaranteed a specific top-tier drop. They didn't have to add anything new, just brought interest to encourage players to participate.

          • Because it requires a good Dev team to make good content with a plot that actually makes sense, pvp is easy since half the work has already been done

At this point, I wouldn't care if they simply added Y2 loot in the Treasure Chests for PoE, but kept the rounds and enemy waves the same. Just make the damn loot relevant to Year 2. Or, guarantee a minimum of 10x Strange Coins, or something valuable. That's how desperate I've become for change.

            • I don't know how well that PoE would work for what you're saying as really you're just saying they should just make a year two PoE. But if you're interested here is an idea I had for a monthly pve event that would make PoE and all year one content have a point again.

              • I remember reading a couple of posts over the past months about some really neat PvE ideas for limited time events: periodic attacks on the City, or other locations of interest. Think "the enemy moves against each other", but they're moving on us! We spend a week or two literally waging war with the forces of the Darkness: It's Wednesday. You make your weekly trip to the Tower to pick up your Armsday orders from Banshee, and maybe even place a few new orders. You've just finished examining your weapon - everything seems in order - and are in the process of handing over the Gunsmith's Glimmer when an alarm suddenly blares throughout the Tower courtyard. There's a roar of engines overhead and you turn to see Cabal Harvesters dropping out of the sky. One of them barely misses the Tower before descending upon the City below. All those people are in danger. You drop Banshee's Glimmer on the table and bolt for the Hangar. Hopefully the first shuttle hasn't left yet, because you need to get down to the City proper, and fast....
