Destiny was highly promoted as a MMO/sandbox co-op PVE game. People didn't even know PVP was an option.
PVE and MMO players flocked to the game. Sadly, unlike other MMO-like games, Destiny did not offer enough content to keep players busy until the next DLC or release.
So slowly PVE players started moving on to other games leaving behind the toxic PVP community to its Crucible.
If you primarily started playing Destiny because you believe it's a good PVP game, you're a fool. There are much better FPS PVP games available. Destiny wasn't even advertised for its PVP play. Watch the original E3 trailer.
I still hold out some hope Destiny 2 will center around PVE and we get the game we all inspire Destiny to be.

HEAVEN FORBID A GAME HAS A PVP REPUTATION AFTER A YEAR!
-
I was hit with a Viking funeral/ touch of flame firebolt the other day. I crouched behind a rock to let the burn wear off. I was kicked to orbit for inactivity.
-
I'd be happy with the current setup if they would just bring all year one items, raids, events, and areas up to year two levels....
-
What other pvp fps out there do you recommend? Anything but call of duty

I'm not a big PvP player, to be honest I really don't enjoy PvP at all, but even I wouldn't call people fools for being PvP players. Judging people based on the fact that they enjoy something you don't is ignorant and immature. The only fools here are bungie, because they have everything they need to have a truly great game but they constantly screw it up with extremely bad decisions, lack of insight, no concept of how to balance weapons and skills, and a complete refusal to actually try to fix anything that actually matters. They barely communicate with the community and when they do all they say is "stay tuned for news". Of course there is really no need to communicate because it is extremely evident that the whole focus of the game has shifted to eververse microtransactions and nothing else.

Edited by SpakulatorX: 2/8/2016 11:58:55 PMNo offense, but to be a true gaurdian I believe you must partake of this game in its entirety. That means play both pvp and pve. Personally if I didn't have pvp to keep me occupied during dlc/content lows I would have stopped playing long ago, and I'm only an average pvp player.

Edited by Mandalorian7413: 2/9/2016 2:25:14 AMI'm decent at pvp games that allow me to out think other players with modes like control and gives me time to react and regroup, twitch death matches with 1hit kills are not my thing. I like Destiny pvp just fine TYVM.

I'm a fool! I always buy FPS mainly for PVP. I never knew much about destiny until I was told bungie made a new game and it's supposed to be awesome (2 days b4 release). That's all I needed to hear. I bought it and fell in love with PVE (something new for me), but I also love pvp. If bungie cared about it a little more it could be the least noobiest pvp on the market. I already think it's better than black ops 3 and halo 5. Call me crazy, but i think this game has the most potential moving toward.

>calls PvP players fools >is in top 1% of hours played in the crucible >lol
It's not the PvP players that are toxic to this community...it's you for making posts like these. Go awayyyyy
Tell me more about what I should and shouldn't enjoy. Look up the word pretentious and then slam that dictionary on your oversized head.

To think destiny had no intention of being a pvp game makes you a fool. Like ALL mmo games, endgame is pvp. Why? People who love the games want to know who is better. Stop talking out of your ass, and have a nice day.
-
"You're a fool for liking parts of a game that I personally don't." If you can't see how childish this reasoning is, then I feel bad for you and the people you interact with on a daily basis.

Wasn't crucible a more last minute addition to the game also? To try and give the game more replay value? I read somewhere that it was added in late stage

Subjective opinions are not universal truths.

Imo destiny has one of the most unique pvp experiences.
-
Oh ok

Anyone who still plays this game is a fool

I'm the fool :$

Eh, it's not great. It looks nice, but Black Ops 3 and even Battlefront are better.

That might be your perspective, but there are a number of us who have played PVP since the BETA and that is the reason we still play this game till today. The PVP gameplay is still to this day unmatched to any game in terms of how smooth movement is, the fantastic graphics, and the specificity to how accurate you need to be when fighting. I played PVP non stop even when I was getting green rewards at max level. It wasn't about getting gear, it was about competing in a vicious unpredictable environment instead of battling computers... Clearly seeing as you are a PVE player, you know very little about the PVP world and how long and strong that community is.

I like Destiny's pvp... CoD has nothing on it. PvE is boring and grindy and at least when I play pvp I have challenges that can be different.
-
What I think about the PvP is that most people hate it because you get killed quite a bit at the beginning. I just recently started playing and still getting hammered big time, but I have my moments. The mechanics and gunplay is very hard to match. Name one game that is better. Agreed pve is a bit shallow...Give you that.

At least we all know that one day, no one will play it.
