[Bungie, you should take a look in here there are some good ideas being thrown around] Raid matchmaking and the stupid excuses for not wanting it.

Seriously, I am a lone player and have dropped Destiny without even getting to play the endgame content because of lack of matchmaking. I joined a clan, schedules were crap with mine, I looked at LFG, and people are snobbing noobs and year one content is not an option for most. To all those who oppose raid matchmaking, shut up and stop whining, if you dont want to get matched with randos, dont click on the Raid mission if your not with your precious fireteam and let us people with a life have matchmaking options for quick access to the content we will otherwise never see. And at @Bungie, shit or get off the pot, your game is dying if you keep making it hard for people to enjoy it. There I said it, so sue me

  • So I have been playing The Division beta this past few days and experimented a bit to see if teamwork with randoms and no mic or ability to communicate other than game mechanics worked out. It did, and was hell of a thrill. I was in the dark zone and popped up to an extraction point solo, with no gear to extract (so i become everyone's target for suspicion) and dont talk ever! There is a group there already, organized and communicating. As soon as I enter they start suspecting i will go rogue and have their guns trained on me for safety. Then the interesting part starts. First a group of NPC get to us and we attack them, i help them out so their suspicion drops a bit. They keep asking me if i have a mic and i try to emote my way into saying no. That makes them a bit more suspicious but they dont just off and kill me. Then when the NPCs are dead we wait a bit more, me still being under heavy guard. Then a random rogue (who wasn't rogue upon arrival) baits one of the guys into killing him and thus turning my "matchmade" team into a partly rogue team. At that point panic ensues! They all circle me thinking i will down the recently rogued guy, or that the other dude was with me in this plot...what do i do the... I shoot the guy with my healing skill and do a surrender emote. We then rolled together for about 30 min and had tons of fun and success, with a guy in the team that just appeared without anyone asking (matchmaking much) and "no" mic. Granted this wont always be a success story but if people know its possible and expect it to happen why don't we give it a shot. Not everything needs to be an instant success or lead to the best rewards in the fastest way. Sometimes random shit happening makes for the best experiences! So tell me, is optional matchmaking such a bad thing, no. And on the other subject, the dark zone in The Division really captures what a cooperative persistent open world multiplayer experience should be. Take note Bungie and a lot of us would appreciate that this is heard and used to make some changes. Thank you

  • Idiots that support this don't realize that they will never actually finish a raid

    • One big problem I think people have with MM is that they want that little downtime to ready their group and fill it without having to worry about it being filled by randos. They could just make a matchmaking queue that's separate from the raid group queue. Problem solved: loners get their chance, and groups get the group they wanted in the first place.

    • And about the recent Crimson Doubles ...It boggles my mind that there is not even matchmaking for this event....this is just plain stupid if you ask me. Could have had a few quick runs if it did...but no...again this game is harder to schedule around than a dentist appointment... . .

My roommate quit for this reason. I quit for a couple reasons....this being the major one. Having no system for finding partners was ASKING for their game to fail. Seriously. I'm not a game designer........but even I know Bungie made a completely idiotic mistake with Destiny. (And I'm done buying Bungie games because apparently they don't see a problem with their garbage system)

      • You're absolutely right. There should be no reason not to add matchmaking.

        • I agree there should also be a vote to kick option in it so if a group goes in with a full team someone lags out and a random joins the full team can kick tpsaid random and invite their teammate back.

          • I think raid matchmaking is a great idea but it should be optional. For example when you select the raid and difficulty you would then get an option to start the raid with your current fireteam or to enter the queue. Additionally you should be able to customize the queue to screen players by class and light level so you are only matched with the party composition you are looking for. I understand you can post on lfg but it would be much better if that matchmaking tool was integrated into Destiny itself rather than provided by a third party.

There must be legal implications to denying access to content that people have paid for? You can't rely on everyone using third party apps and sites to fill Bungies game for them. Optional matchmaking should have been in the game from day one..we paid for the content that we want access to! Key word OPTIONAL so nobody can reply with stupid arguments about noobs, mics and LFG teams. Bungie pioneered so many good game models and functions in the past, I'm lost for words as to why they have stepped back ten years. I personally don't believe this is the Bungie I have followed for over ten years, I'm sure they have sold out to a developer that does not know their arse from their elbow!

            • Bungie seriously needs to look into this. Right now I'm 295 light, and I can't even run the normal raid for the first time without hearing: "Must be 310+ light! Have ToM, and Black Spindle. No first timers allowed!" Good ole' lfg never lets me down :D

              • Bump, the numbers dont lie, 22.7% of people have done one of the original raids, 15.5% have done a hard mode original, 9.1% have done the ttk, and 3.9% have done the ttk hard mode. Cant argue with numbers. Lfg sites are trash. Totally agree with you dude, solo players get the shaft

I prefer LFG in game. Personally, I like to inspect, plan ahead a bit, etc. but either way, it would be nice. I think Raid matchmaking would work a little bit differently. A little more specifically. If raid matchmaking becomes a thing, you'd likely only get match made with players on the same checkpoint as you. Same thing with PoE. Is this a bad thing? NOPE! We need some social tools.

                • Raid mm is not a good idea imo, who knows what players you'll get. It's bad enough with lfg players. Most are still so bad at the raids.

I'd rather have no match making on any end game, just like it is now. What we need is a kiosk for raids so we can communicate better. Example Fire Team Leader : XTempistX Event: Raid / PoE / ToO / IB Details : Kings Fall, Skolas Revenge, etc. Preferred Light Level : XXX Microphone Required : [x] yes [ ] no Additional Comments: Seasoned players only Fire Team Count : 4/6 From there you could click that and be able to talk in team finder chat (same as fire team chat). Fire team leader will see you pop up as a candidate for the activity and can inspect your character right at the kiosk. This eliminates 290 lights from match making into a 310 raid, prevents players without mics coming in if preferred, and you'll be able to maybe coach the player on gear before starting the activity. The current match making in this game applied to end game would ruin everything. Player loses connection, another player gets match made in and refuses to leave. Match made games have no fire team leader so everyone goes to orbit and invites get sent, hoping everyone comes back? Nty

                    • Agreed. It actually takes as long to get a fire team on lfg as it does to do the raid, What a fvckin joke.
