Strikes Rebirth

Hey everyone Raspingbless here, I've been playing Destiny a lot recently even more than usual and while I love the game, it cannot be ignored how many improvements need to be made. While PvP continues to get a moderate amount of attention PvE players on the other hand are still being kept in the darkness -see what I did there- about any possible updates. I study game design at university and Bungie while I understand completely how it is a lot more difficult to create content for PvE as opposed to PvP I also know, that some of the changes the community have been asking for could easily be implemented. Understandably while updating all of the year one content to year two would be an amazing boost to PvE community maybe even better than fresh content, I also know that should you only have a small development team it would be a monumental effort. As a result I truly believe should we not be getting new content or if the old content isn't being revitalised a heavy focus should be put into changing the strikes. One of my favourite things about destiny was that if I had a spare twenty minutes I could pick it up do a strike or two and then go about my business, while this is still an applicable thing to do now that I have reached a higher light level, unless I'm farming for exotics there is literally no reason to run a strike. I main a 318 Titan but I also have a 316 Warlock and a 315 Hunter. I remember at first I was so happy when I reached the higher ends of light level spectrum, but then that happiness shortly turned to disdain as I realised that unless I am doing the Kings fall raid or farming for exotics there is literally nothing for me to do. This is a problem I imagine that is shared by other players who are in a similar position to me. Strikes in my opinion are a way to breath a new sense of life into the game and even if they weren't what the community was hoping for, there are small yet fundamental changes that can be applied to them. Below is a list of some of the viable changes I feel are necessary 1- Update the heroic playlist. I purchased destiny when the taken King was released and until yesterday I had only grown accustomed to its strikes. Yesterday I decided to play some of the legacy strikes and I was so surprised to find content that I had actually not seen. This was like a breath of fresh air and actually proved to remind me what it was first like when I started to play Destiny. 2- Improve the Vanguard streak system. After doing like 25 strikes yesterday I wholeheartedly feel that this system is broken, which is a shame as there are so many things that could be done with this mechanic. Most people probably know what the vanguard streak is, but ask yourself do you actually think it works ? As I said I played roughly 25-30 strikes yesterday and if I remember correctly I only received two legendaries. Maybe to Bungie this might have been a reasonable ratio but, with the PvE community in such a drought this needs to change, especially as the loot dropped is practically useless to higher level players anyway. In my opinion I believe if max level loot was dropped in strikes the vanguard streak would actually be relevant again. Imagine 320 loot being obtainable in strikes but to even have a chance of getting some you need to have a 20 vanguard streak. If Bungie were to implement stricter rules on AFKers the community would finally have another option to play destiny as opposed to solely playing for the raids. To be honest I had a lot more points but while I was writing I realised that a lot of issues could be solved by improving the vanguard streak mechanic. As such I'm going to end it there for now. Depending on how popular this thread is I may edit it later with more changes but until then - Rasping out
