Locking content from the original disc because you didn't purchase succeeding pieces of DLC is not alright. Launch content should be available to everyone who chose not to, or couldn't, purchase the Dark Below, the House of Wolves, or the Taken King. If I were to remove the updates I would expect to be able to complete everything up until the Black Garden, including Patrol (on all planets and the Moon). This needs attention, and immediate action.

I also note Sparrow Racing no DLC version ... ... you can enter the Sparrow garage and mount a Sparrow, but the garage door does not open and you can't fit the Sparrow out the side door. But you can race the Sparrow about 10 feet inside the garage. Not really enough to do a flip or anything, but it's kinda fun imagining what you could do for an extra $100.

Don't be surprised. Bungie locked content for players who did not purchase the latest DLC. It's a scandalous business tactic, but one that doesn't surprise us knowing how greedy Activision and Bungie are for money.

I don't understand why they did this. Everyone should always have access to level 40 and all the planets.

On a similar note, my wife who I bought the original Destiny, with DB and HoW for, wanted to play again. Guess what, you can't buy The Taken King as a separate DLC anymore from the PS4 shop. The only way to get TTK is to buy THE ENTIRE GAME at full price. I had to buy Destiny, DB, HoW, and TTK to get her the expansion so we'd be in the same world... They would only offer a 5$ trade-in on the original disk too, despite being an official Bungie stockist. Having to pay for the original game plus two already owned DLC... not cool.

Look even me ( a year one player) havent a single dlcs for this game, and trust me all 3 the dlcs are pure garbage

All the time i was playing this game without any dlc . And its surprise to me now that it was impossible for many players . Im not from us i don't have any friends who also play destiny . The maps - thuria bastion timekeeper pantheon... were available to me . First i bought destiny on ps3 long time before then i sold ps3 to one kid without account and game after that i read that official commercial https://www.destinythegame.com/digital-upgrade wich now seems to me a lie . When i bought ps4 i downloaded demo its updated(i thouht that its full game that i bought on ps3 ) --- and it gave me an acsess to my charcter lvl 32 all the time i was playing it cruicible was able also . Also i was going to bye crucible weapons but legendary marks was not be able to me and i found another way to get them (cruicible weapons wich for lvl 30 have the same damage like for level 40 wep) - for any factions alliance level i has got any legendary item then broke it and has 3 legendary marks . I create a second character wich long time was lvl 4 and then i understood that factions alliance levels wich are not transfer on the characters in one account like a glimmer poins so i decided to train that second character to get more factions alliance levels broke more legendary items to get more legendary marks . 2 hours before new update i gain level 7 for the second character than it was a text " it will be maintence bla bla bla .." After update i gain lvl 8 and then it was a text - maxim level bla bla ... and the game was blocked to demo ( I was not need to bye dlc because it was a way to dominate in cruicible without it ) There are also more bugs in game...to get vault of glass solo and take etheric fire from chest then sell it to the speaker for much glimmer and othe other more bugs of scripts in game code .But its not mistake of the players . Sorry bungie but i think that from your side its a scam action to stole my game . To block other game coopies than gaves you at the begging 500+ millions .Count how much money you was need to pay from the beggining 60 game copy 50 two dlcs and last dlc 40 150 bucks for what - for nothing for the air - and if you will not pay your game will be blocked ---- it looks like a scam to sell one game twice with some new elements ) ! . You haven't bought any of the DLC? Just the Vanilla? Of course you'll be locked out. The planets currently have TTK events happening on them. This would be why they are locked. They would have been when the Wolves were prowling and the Blades were lurking too. Eventually when they end this stupid ass Taken invasion shit, you'll get your planets back. Unlikely, but the best reasoning they will give you

Call activision and request your money back. I believe you will get it.
