I started out with a red gameboy advanced SP, and it was what brought joy to me every car ride to the beach, bus ride to school, or when I stayed up late, conquering each game I had, over and over. Some of my favorites were Mario Kart Super Circuit, Super Mario Land 2, Super Mario Advanced, Crash Bandicoot, and a few others. My friends and I were constantly trading and borrowing games. The only thing that would have made that time in my life better was if we had a multiplayer cable. I remember trying to speedrun games from the beginning everyday on the bus to school with my friends.
EDIT: More appropriate picture.

Link cable gaming was awesome! Nothing like kingdom hearts pvp

Still have my teal Gameboy Color and blue GBA SP Still use both but mostly the GBA SP and sometimes to bring back all those good memories I'll grab the GBC and the attachable light(sigh... good times). I mainly stuck to Pokemon Silver(and Blue/Yellow) and The Legend of Zelda Oracle of Ages. Unfortunately on the GBC the battery cover's clip is broken so I just hold it down with a small piece of tape.
-
PlayStation 1 and early 2000s PC era was amazing. Hell, I still play Age of Mythology on PC occasionally
-
GBA was the shit
-
Started with a game boy color still have it to this day
-
Started w/ a game boy pocket.
-
Started with a green Gameboy Color with Pokemon Red on a long car trip.
-
I put so much time into Pokemon Ruby on the purple gba advanced as a kid. It was super rad.
-
Had the original when that broke I got the pocket parents would give me the money for the color upgrade
-
I smashed my purple GBA with my face when it froze after I beat the elite 4 in FireRed for the first time. I didn't know that it auto saved.
-
Too poor for gameboy colour. Only had a Nintendo Gameboy with asteroids..

Edited by Danger WILDMAN7: 2/7/2016 5:56:27 PMYa post about the good ol days but the first game boy you had was a GBA? For shameeee.. :D Jk, but really though the first game boy for me was one bought for my uncle in 1989 (when I was one) he gave me it when I was about 8 or so.. right around when pokemon first came out. Red version was the first game I ever bought with my own money, so I've been a gameboy player pretty much from the start. Legend of Zelda: Links Awakening is a pretty awesome game in the series that came out for the original gameboy. Good stuff :) Edit: who remembers the Sega game gear? ? !!
-
The first piece of video game paraphernalia I ever owned was a Gameboy color.
-
I remember playing Kid Icarus: Of Myths and Monsters on the original Game Boy. Also played a lot of Pokemon on my GB Pocket and Color. I recently bought a 3DS to play Pokemon again after almost 15 years and I HATE it. Why did they have to ruin Pokemon?
-
Have my game boy and color out for a picture for Pokémon20. Broke my old Advance. Lost my SP (but it'll turn up), broke my first DS, obtained a second. Played DS lite and DSi but never owned them. Bought a 3DS and New 3DS XL.
-
I do, and always will. Super metroid Metroid fusion Pokemon R/B/Y/Sapphire, Super Mario bro 3 Super Mario world Ninja turtle Legacy of goku
-
I had a Gameboy Color and a Gameboy Advance SP. I remember playing Pokémon Ruby on that.
-
Each one of my four kids had one,,,,but it was mine not theirs. Nothing gets results faster when a kid is threatened with no Gameboy for a week.
-
I -blam!- ing loved spyro back in those days
-
I was not born in time but I have one and it is good

Edited by wojo55: 2/6/2016 11:09:39 PMI know there's not that many people are age in here. I find these results inaccurate Edit: never mind I thought you were talking about gameboy color you know something that was long ago enough to have "good old days"
-
*Gameboy color were the golden days. Tou and your fancy Gameboy Advance with the colored screens and backlighting. When I was a kid we had to memorize the screen between streetlights at night.
-
Anyone remember having to buy one of those attachments with the light because there was no backlit display? Man I could never keep enough batteries lol
-
The good old days of game boy? I had the original grey brick. That thing ate batteries like you wouldn't believe.

Kingdom of hearts on sp
