Guardian Legends: A Gunslinger pt. 3

Steven walked into the saloon, not drawing much attention to himself. He pulled the rim of his hat just low enough to hide his eyes. He scanned over the crowd. Gambling, drunken brawls, drinking contests, it was all here. No one, but three at the bar, seemed suspicious and Steven wasn't going to take a chance. He continued to watch the men to see what their next move was. One man grabbed a waitress and pulled her onto his lap! The woman, screamed, but spun around and slapped him across the face! She hurried off as the man quickly stood up and pulled out his hand cannon, but didn't aim! Steven tensed up and put his hand on the grip! The man was furious, but his friends calmed him down. The man sat back down and had another drink. Steven slowly moved his hand away from his hand cannon and propped his arms on the table. He fiddled with his fingers as his eyes, only his eyes, shifted to Arlis. "That escalated quickly..." said Arlis. "Yes, it did. Drunk and pissed off men can make rash decisions... Things are fixin' to get ugly, for them. I think we found our bandits." Steven whispered back. Haley growled in agreement and tried to lunge at them, but Steven grabbed her collar. She looked up at him, disappointed. "Wait, girl..." The three men at the bar all drank one more glass. They slammed the shot glasses on the table and gave the bar tender the money for the drinks. "Move. Go outside." whispered Steven as he got up. He walked out of the building before the other guys did. He waited next to the door, waiting to see where the three men were headed. Like he thought, they walked out and towards their sparrows. "Hey. Did y'all hear about the ranch that burned down in Texas?" Steven pulled one man over. They looked at each other with concern, Steven's final clue. "Yeah... we tried to put it out..." "Aight. Well, that was my home!" Steven crossed his arms, his deep voice sent fear to the men. The three men, the bandits, knew they were caught. "You are supposed to be dead! I shot you!" said the man up front. Steven tilted his head up, just enough to reveal his brown eyes. "Then, I guess that makes me a ghost..." Steven's hand slowly moved to the revolver given to him. As he did so, the three bandits, rather quickly, drew their guns and... BANG, BANG, BANG! Women and children screamed in fear of the gunshots! Steven looked at the three piles of ash, he terrified himself! He looked to the revolver that he carried. It was a flaming mass of melted steel in the shape of a revolver! Yet, Steven had no intention to drop it. Three bullets were still in the chamber, but the three he shot were enough. As if instinct, he flexed his fingers and the 'golden gun' vanished. "What.. was.. that?!" asked Steven. "I.. I don't know! I've never seen such a weapon!" Steven looked to the crowd of petrified faces! "I think it wise to leave..." Steven tipped his hat and got on the sparrow. He waited for Haley to get on, then the three friends left. "I believe it is a huge honor, what you got." said Arlis out of the blue. "Pardon me?" asked Steven bearing down on the throttle. "Most Hunters aren't born into the Light, they don't need to be. The only requirements of being a Hunter is to know how to bear the wild. But you! You are a Hunter born into the Light! You were given the power of a sun, stuffed in a six-shooter! If the Traveler is raising Hunters, then he plans to use them in the war that is bound to come." Arlis went on. "So, what shall I do now?" "We can go to the City and set the foundation for future Guardian Hunters." Arlis got Steven and Haley a jump ship, so they flew to the last safe City. It was a little boom town under the Traveler. No skyscrapers or the wall. There, Steven and Haley walked up and down the streets. People were panicking, hiding in narrow alleyways. Some were rampant, stirring up trouble. "I would prefer Texas over this..." said Steven. Haley barked in agreement. Steven patted her head, she wagged her tail in excitement. "So, who's the one in charge, Arlis?" Steven looked to his ghost. Always walk with a good friend. Here, I tell the untold stories of legends amongst us, within us.
