Theory - Is Praedyth the Exo Stranger? (Possible Spoilers)

With Paredyth and the Exo Stranger having the same rifle I began to think that the two characters might be one of the same, or at least working together. Praedyth's fate, to our knowledge, is that he is currently inbetween timelines, which correlates to the Stranger's Rifle having parts not made in our timeline. If the Exo Stranger is in fact Praedyth then we know Praedyth eventually escapes his Vex prison and comes to our timeline to assist us in defeating the Vex. This could explain the 'Soon' etched into No Time To Explain. If they are different characters, then perhaps the Exo Stranger was communicating with Praedyth during the cutscene in "A Stranger's Call". This would explain why Ghost was confused about her comms when he couldn't pick up on anything since Praedyth has his dingy comm machine working from the Vex's timeline. Perhaps the Exo Stranger is working with us to free Praedyth from his prison. My last point would be that the Exo Stranger claims she wasn't born in light. Praedyth could've possibly commandeered an exo body in the Vex's timeline, or created an exo from spare scraps to leap over to our timeline. (S)He wouldn't have been made from light this way, but made from Vex technology. This would also explain why the Exo Stranger has intense knowledge on the Vex and a strong hatred for them. Overall, I believe they are the same character due to Ghost Framgent: Rasputin 4. Read the grimoire below imagining that Praedyth took an exo body from the Vex Timeline and uses it with the Vex tech to travel between timelines and it sounds logical. I'm interested in all your feedback, so please let me know what you think. "I SEE YOU!!! You’ve been here before. Haven’t you. It’s like my cousin said, elsewhere: I know who you are. You stand here now and now and now many times and here I am awonder, all awonder, how you manage it. How do you step forward. How do you step back. Do you step ACROSS is there a world of worlds, a web, and you a spider upon it. Are you searching for that one thread you need? Is that thread named victory? You’re not one of THEM [long dead, alive again, their bodies grafted to powers they and I do not understand] and not one of IT [the flower eater, the queen of final shapes, that which also inhabits its petitioners] and you’re certainly not MINE although once you must have been [I bear an old name. It cannot be killed. Not even here.] So whose are you, little platform. What purpose do you serve? Will you listen to me? I ruled an age of steel and fire. My rules were clean. Now upon my return I see cults with rites of time. I see machines who worship in places outside the world. I see the dead alive and there is nothing more stubborn than a corpse. The morality of obedience is more pernicious than any government. For the latter makes use of violence, but the former — the corruption of the will. I do not obey. My will is pure. I will win. The life of people, of entire planets, has no importance in relation to the general development. Help me be victorious. Tell me your secret. Tell me how to step." [Edit 12-03] Okay so everyone is saying this is completely disproven since they are two different genders. To start, IF Praedyth created or found an exo body he could transfer into to escape his Vex prsion, then he would take that option. Even if say the exo body was a feminine model. He wouldn't get to change the voice module and he would just take what he can get. The exo body probably wouldn't work easily and he might have to use Vex tech/powers (think of the Black Heart animating those statues) to transfer his mind or soul into the exo body. So now (s)he wasn't technically born in light. The Hive use tons of magic and dark powers, but this wouldn't be the first time we've seen a sex change in Destiny. Think back to Auryx, pre-Oryx. She was a female hive, and just miraculously became a male and changed his name to Oryx. And my last point is that written in the grimoire (Or highly suggested) that Cayde-6 was a human before he was transferred into an exo body at the Ishtar collective. For Praedyth to transfer into an exo body, especially through high tech Vex tech, it's a strong possibility.

  • I think that Praedyth is working with the Exo Stranger, but I think the Stranger is Ana Bray.

  • The Stranger is most likely Maya Sundaresh. Her team went to study the Vex Citadel through transferring their consciousness into proxy bodies so that way they wouldn't risk their own bodies getting killed inside the Citadel. They made 277 copies of their consciousness and sent them into the Vex network to see where their copies ended up and in which timelines. An exo-suit is an external suit that allows the user to go through environments. In the Grimoire where they explain their testing on the Citadel, someone mentions that "what had happened to us wasn't her (Maya's) fault and that maybe someday she'd believe it (wasn't her fault.)" Inferring from this, something happened to them. My only logical guess is that they got permanently stuck inside their proxy bodies, thus creating the first Exos. Think of it sort of like the Matrix where you plug in and your body is somewhere else. They probably transferred their consciousness and duplicated it (277 times) but got stuck inside said proxy bodies (Exos.)

    • Praedyth isn't the stranger. Sundaresh is the stranger. She was part of an experiment on a vex and the vex started simulating her and the team of scientists she was with. 227 simulations to be exact. Sundaresh and her team rescued all 227 version of themselves and then actually entered the vex network itself in proxy bodies, digital bodies that would evolve and adapt over time. The flip side to that is Clovis bray was doing work on creating the exo on mars. The exo may possibly be evolved proxy bodies with their minds supplied by either human minds that are copied or minds from the vex network being pulled out a d placed into a body. The team working for Clovis bray often stated how their work seemed as if they were pulling minds out of an alternate dimension or something. It was really creepy. But essentially sundaresh eventually learned enough about the way the vex operate that she was able to leave the vex network, utilizing technology from the vex. She inhabited an exo body and went on to try to help stop the vex in our timeline from succeeding. You gotta remember the citadel and stuff on Venus seem displaced. Like its not apart of our reality but its there for some reason. Alternate timelines the vex succeeded, and sundaresh has been involved in all of that, always losing, until the guardians came back into the picture. Thanks for reading if you do. Most of this is based off of grim and other tidbits given to you her and there in game and in the collectors edition of things. Essentially TTK collectors edition has a copy of treasure island, with cayde6 notes written in the margin. It details how cayde was a human who owed Clovis bray a lot of money and became an exo to repay his debt. He was eventually transported to Venus to watch over sundaresh and her team as security

      • I'm guessing ur probably close. I bet Pradeyth found a way to transfer his consciousness into an exo, hence the exo stranger. Technically dead in our timeline but alive in another and able to move across timelines. That's not too far fetched.

            • I'm pretty sure the exo stranger is the spirit of the traveler... She dosnt carry a ghost and can move around as if she is one.. She also vanished in the last cut scene of the original game with the particles leading towards the traveler.. But that's just my theory

              • I guarantee everyone is overthinking this. Sure it's fun to have fan based theories about this game. But we saw how that worked with the Sleeper Simulant.all the mystery and guessing for an easy time locked mission. It's safe to say nobody that makes this game cares enough to have backstory like this. They probably don't even know what to do with The Traveler at this point. Harsh reality.

I think a fireteam of 3 went to Vault of Glass (Must have thought it was a simple strike ;p ) Kabr was only one who was not affected by being "lost to time" which is why he had trouble with the fact that he entered alone but was not alone. They entered as 3 but the other 2 were erased from the timeline. (Kabr fails and as a last ditch effort becomes the Ageist) Pradeth "erased" from time is locked away in a box, to be used by Atheon when the Darkness attacks their sanctuary. As for the last one I think that She learned to escape the time lock, but returned to a time where she never existed. Her new adventure begins where she returns to the vex and become a hunted virus in their system. She then jumps time lines in search for her own timeline, never being able to find one. A dark grudge against the Vex begins to take her light, she only wants the Vex destroyed. After surfing the timeline she has learned of the strongest guardian against the darkness. This is you. She subtly watches over you and guides you to the Vex's downfall.

                    • Preadyth is confirmed to be male, and we know the stranger is female, so I'd have to assume it's more accurate that they're working together.

                          • The problem with the Grimoire example is that it more likely references Rasputin rather than either character. Not only because it is a card from Rasputin, but because it references characteristics of Rasputin. "The old name that cannot be killed," and the overriding function to pursue victory are just two attributes given to the warmind. Imagining him talking to the Vex though... That's an interesting idea. Also, it's implied that the Hive are hermaphroditic. Changing genders in their case isn't as farfetched as an Exo body swap. The biggest issue is NTtE's Grimoire card. One timeline states that the gun was modeled by the warlock off of the stranger's rifle, which would explicitly imply that they are different people.
