So here is my somewhat crazy Destiny theory...

I think you may be right!

WARNING! As I receive new information, I will edit this post AT THE BOTTOM. PLEASE READ THE EDITS. Thanks. So let's get into it! I'll start with the traveller. I believe he is not what he appears to be, and only a select few know. Now before you spam me hate comments, let's look in the past... EVIDENCE 1: THE FALLEN It is well known the fallen were destroyed by the "Whirlwind", and that the Traveller visited them at some time previously. The Traveller left the fallen when they were under attack by what we now know as the darkness. The Traveller abandon the fallen. Left them for dead. The fallen were forced into a scavenging nomadic lifestyle. They pursued the "Great Machine" (Traveller) in hopes it could help them. That is why the guardians are under assault from the various houses. What you should take from this is that the Traveller left the fallen in their time of need, and I theorize it left the fallen to slow the darkness down, like a human (or alien) shield. EVIDENCE 2: HUMANITY But DUde! The Traveller is still with us, floating in the sky and doing absolutely nothing! Well my friends, that is because it is crippled. What crippled it will be addressed later, but first let me set something straight about why the Traveller is still here. I do not believe the Traveller is evil. It simply put itself before other alien races, and now is, to protect itself. Selfish? Yes. But is it plotting to kill us? No. A grimiore card states that the Traveller was tired of running. That it wanted to stay and fight with humanity. I believe that it had this thought, but then decided it wanted to leave. To let humanity die. Then it was crippled by.... EVIDENCE 3: RASPUTIN Rasputin crippled the Traveller. In the card Rasputin 5, it is clearly states that he fired on the Traveller to prevent it from leaving. Boom. Bombshell dropped. Anyway, the Traveller knew it was becoming crippled and created the ghosts to do its bidding, and to recruit an army to protect it while it lay dormant. The Traveller went into sleep and defensive mode, as it expected the darkness to be about to consume it. It was desperate. It expected to die. So what happened? When Rasputin fired on the Traveller, it sent out a wave of energy. The darkness was pushed back and temporarily disabled. Meanwhile back on earth, a large fleet of humans attempted to escape. They were in the asteroid belt, cornered by darkness, when the energy wave hit. Almost all were killed immediately. But some became changed. The light smashed them in between the dark, making them in both the light and the dark. Both the dark and the light tried to make these humans in their image. The Traveller attempted to make them part of his army, like he had done with the humans on earth. The dark wanted to make them a new army of his, adding to what it already had. And so the awoken were born. EVIDENCE 4: THE NINE By this time, the darkness had overtaken the small colony on Europa. A group of nine individuals were the only survivors. They formed a pact with the darkness, and are much like us - guardians. Instead of wielding the power of the Traveller, they wield darkness. They are a formidable foe. However, now that the darkness has been pushed back by Rasputin (directly or indirectly), the nine are undecided. Who's side shall they join? Who shall they support? In an attempt to revive the Traveller from its dormant state, the speaker reached out to the nine. That is why he sometimes mutters, "if only the nine would help..." The nine could decide he fate of this war. [
Nine grimiore card: The Nine are survivors of the cis-Jovian colonies who made a compact with an alien force to ensure their own survival. The Nine are deep-orbit warminds who weathered the Collapse in hardened stealth platforms. The Nine are ancient leviathan intelligences from the seas of Europa or the hydrocarbon pits of Titan. The Nine arrived in a mysterious transmission from the direction of the Corona-Borealis supercluster. The Nine are the firstborn Awoken and their minds now race down the field lines of the Jupiter-Io flux tube. The Nine are Ghosts who pierced the Deep Black without a ship and meditated on the hissing silence of the heliopause. The Nine are the aspects of the Darkness, broken by the Traveler's rebuke, working to destroy us from within. The Nine is a viral language of pure meaning. The Nine are the shadows left by the annihilation of a transcendent shape, burned into the weft of what is.
So what do you think, guardians? I am currently working on a hive, vex, cabal, and Mara Sov section. Special thanks to: AnonPig, I plan to incorporate parts of his theories GameTheory, for getting me thinking about this topic The Cabal Since this post is already very long, I'll make my theory short. I believe the cabal are having troubles at home with some other force (possibly hive?) and are invading the solar state to find resources or a new home. We have only seen a fragment of the cabal empire, and so far what we have seen is simply a scout crew as indicated by Cayde at the end of bond brothers ("Someone, somewhere just got the message that they no longer have any ranking members in our solar system"). This possibly shows a much bigger power at the head of the cabal empire. There is more proof in the mission where we stop a signal from the beached cabal ship. We are told that the signal was addressed to the leader of the cabal empire and was a distress signal. Leader of the cabal empire? I believe he is on the cabal home planet (which is currently being invaded). More to be added. The Books of Sorrow This does not in any way relate to my theory (yet) but I figured that I would sum this up for you guy. Seriously that is a long FRIEKING book, so I guess I can save you some time. Part 1: Oryx started off as a girl, and she and her two sisters were the three surviving kids of the King of the osmium court, which is a continent island thing inside a gaseous planet (yes, a gas giant like Jupiter with an ocean and continents inside. Physics says no, bungie says yes). Oryx and his species had a short lifespan of 10 years, with the exception of "mothers", and we're basically prey for stronger enemies on their world. Heck, their law, called the Timid Truth, states that they are to live and die in the dark as food for enemies. That's the thing about hive; once you destroy someone you must be more powerful than them. Technically, because we killed oryx we are now "gods", although it's debatable weather that carriers over from the hive world into ours. Anyway, oryx discovers her (yes oryx was a girl...) species were not originated on their new home, but rather from a planet that crashed long ago. However, something is occurring outside their world, and their moons are entering a weird orbit, which will eventually cause a massive tidal wave which basically screws every living thing's future on that planet. Well, oryx's dad is trying to find a solution, and has begun talking to a weird white worm creature. It is somehow dead and washed up from the shore, but they still can communicate. However, he has begun to neglect his duties as leader of society, so Taox, who I believe is the mother of the kings children, sends a message to the helium court saying the king is old and senile. Taox suggests they should invade and set her up as a puppet leader. The helium court invades, but does not succeed in killing oryx, sathona and xi ro (those are the 3 sisters). They escape and vow to kill Taox. Part Two EDIT: WERE TRENDING!!!!
