Refer-a-friend Question

I got my Father to play the game for the first time and set him up with a Bungie account and used my referral code. It shows him as a pending friend still and is saying that neither one of us has played the game despite that clearly being false and it saying he qualified as a referee and me as the veteran. Could I get an explanation as to what I am missing please?

  • Hello Midnight, In order to particpate in Refer-A-Friend both the Veteran and the Reeree need to own Destiny: The Taken King. Furthermore, in order for a Referee to accept a code from a Veteran, the Referee needs to have purchased and redeemed Destiny: The Taken King on their primary, Referee, account. *Please Note: know that using the console sharing feature is not supported with Destiny: The Taken King. The Referee will not be eligible to participate in Refer-A-Friend, if they're console sharing. The referee must own Destiny: The Taken King. For additional information on Referee accounts, please refer to this Guided Support Article: https://www.bungie.net/en/Help/Troubleshoot?oid=13997 For more information about the Refer-a-Friend Program, please take a look at the Refer-a-Friend FAQ: https://www.bungie.net/en/Help/Article/13962

    • Does your father directly own TTK on his account? Note that accessing another account's copy of TTK via Digital Rights Management, is not sufficient for the program. Both the Veteran and the Referee must own their own separate copies of ttk.

      • My friend and I own physical copies of the game and we're still receiving the same message. "Your friend has yet to purchase and play Destiny: The Taken King. Once they have completed the necessary steps, you will be Linked Friends". How does that work?

Me and my buddy are having this exact same problem. He only bought the game to help me and is really upset right now that he wasted his money.
