Can Nightstalker PLEASE get a buff?!!!

As a fan of nightstalker, I've used this class more than any other since TTK was released. It is more challenging than other classes in PvP...because all its super is, is a glorified suppression grenade! The nightstalkers super ability is completely underwhelming compared to hammers and stormtrance. Even with quiver for 3 shadowshots, the shadowshot is not powerful enough to kill another classes super with 1 direct shot. When a super is designed to end other players supers, it is completely useless if it cannot excel at doing what it was designed to do!!! The activation time of the tether takes infinitely too long, which results in wasting the super 9 times out of 10 and either getting killed by the super you intended to stop, or shot to death after your tether activates. The damage of a direct hit should be buffed to be at least on par with golden gun, seeing as it should be a viable option to go on a killstreak! [u]Titans will survive a direct hit with tether while using hammer of sol, and since the activation takes too long, they have enough time to kill you with their super.[/u] [u]Defender Titans bubbles cannot be broken with tethers. Also, tethering the defender titan inside his bubble will not shut down his super! This means that the tether can't even effectively do the job it was meant to do! [/u] [u]Warlocks using stormtrance can kill you while in the bow animation, because it has no shield.[/u] [u]Sunsingers self rez will survive a tether direct shot. [/u] [u]Did I mention, nightstalkers have no overshield of any sort!!! During the shadowshot animation, we become frozen in one spot, and the enemy can quickly kill you before it even shoots off a single arrow! You basically become a floating sniper target[/u] [u]Enemies that lag make shadowshot useless, as you will shoot them directly, and it will not register as a direct hit.[/u] [u]Also, the shield recovery times for nightstalkers are dreadful with maxed armor. Probably the worst recovery in the game...[/u] Everything about this class is weaker than other subclass options, other than the poison grenades. The minute I switch to my stormcaller or titan, PvP becomes much easier, because both of their supers allow for quick and easy kills for a short time. Nightstalkers don't have the ability to get quick easy kills. The tether will get a maximum of 3 kills, while both hammers and stormtrance have potential to wreck the entire battlefield for a few moments. Buff the nightstalker class! Its hard enough to aim shadowshot without tethering the damn ceiling or wall right next to you. The least it could do is be a 1 hit kill directly to any super, and activate immediately on a hit! Is that too much to ask?!!! EDIT: Some decent arguments going on here. Most agree that the tether activation time needs buffed. Also, anyone else notice that both of the other "support" classes have overshields, but the nightstalker didn't get one? EDIT: What is with all the hate on these forums nowadays?!!! For christ sake it's a discussion about a video game. Stop burning this community to the ground by trying to be such smart asses about everything! EDIT: Glad some of you are being civil about the argument. Once again, majority of people are saying that the activation time of the tether is the biggest issue at the moment...I agree.

  • I stopped reading when you said the bow animation has no shield. It most certainly does. I do agree that the tether needs to activate quicker. Quiver is useless against someone already in their super because it takes more than one arrow to kill, and they have enough time to move out of the extremely sorry tether radius before it snaps.

  • I don't think the tether needs a damage buff. I know it can't kill guardians who are benefiting from damage reduction, but if I want to use a lethal super, I would be more inclined to use a gunslinger. The only buff I think the nightstalker super absolutely needs is for the tether's suppression effect to trigger immediately upon impact. That strange delay allows the target to get off an extra shot which results in the tetherer getting killed despite having scored a direct hit.

  • Agree...!! I don't know how...but that class need more power. Maybe it can shoot bow at least 5 and with explosion...that would be fun..!

    • I totally, totally agree with you that tether needs to be buffed. All that needs to happen is for the actual impact of the arrow hitting a target to proc the suppress function. As for the damage buff,... I think that it doesn't really matter because night stalker is supposed to be a hard core support class. (And don't say I don't know what I'm talking about, I've mained Hunter from day 1 :-D) I think that the tether should be able to one-shot people without a armored super activated. I think that not being able to one bang another 'roaming' super is ok because NS is designed to lock down areas and stop supers, not necessarily destroy them. (It is plainly ridiculous that golden gun can't one-shot other supers but that's a discussion for another time) an armour buff might be in order as well, but, if a sniper has managed to aim for your head in the brief time that you are in the NS animation then I think they should be awarded the kill. NS should have enough armour to survive a 'shotgun-melee' but not enough to survive a mid to high impact sniper headshot. It is ridiculous that shadow shot can't destroy a bubble, but the obvious solution to this is for the tether to deactivate the bubble when it tethers the bubbles caster. Let's be honest though, hunters have been shafted since HOW and have been nerfed into the ground so much in so many ways that the idea of a "support" class made us think that night stalkers would be a joke anyway. I personally believe that NS's have been the strongest Hunter subclass since TTK. I just think that the Hunter playerbase was shafted by nerfs and the outrageous supers that titans and worlocks received in TTK. Give NS a buff and I think we will see a balancing of the scales, particularly in pvp of which subclass gets more playtime.

    • This class is a very strong one in pvp and pve. It can be argued that the tethers and suppression ability needs to activate sooner but its a very solid class all the way around from melees to grenades and passive abilities

    • The ONLY adjustment it needs is the suppression needs to activate immediately. There should be no delay. I've seen Sunbreakers, Gunslingers, and Bladedancers sprint through without being tethered or having their super cancelled. Everything else is fine.

          The bow animation does increase their defense while activating. Although I do agree that the super should be able to shut down an opposing super. It is such a fun class to use in pvp, shadestep when used correctly is annoying as hell haha. I prefer it over the other two, mainly because I suck with gunslinger and bladedancer.

            Only thing shadow shot needs is suppression when shots hit targets, and a quicker activation of the tethers. Heck even in pve the ai can walk away from the landing zone before the tethers activate. Oh and idk if this has been touched already, but fix it to where my shadow shot floats in place where it made connection with an enemy. There's been times the orb is floating around and away since the first enemy hit with the shot has died.

            • The only change nightstalker would need is for tether to insta supress if you directly hit someone with it. It needs nothing else.

              • You want your support class to have the same damage as a golden gun? In that case, whenever I summon my defender bubble I want there to be an AoE like Fist of havoc.

              • overall nightstalker is probably the best pvp class right now. If you have graviton forfeit, full str / disc and keen scout, you have the ultimate pvp killing machine. You can throw smoke/grenade every 29-34 sec, shadestep away and profit from wallhack (keen scout). Only downside is weak super, which is fine, because you have your super 1-3 times per match but your wallhack is permanent, shadestep is OP af etc.

                Eh, subclasses are more than their supers. I'd say nightstalker is the best class for pvp overall.

              • Defender bubbles once places are no longer part of the defender same as a tether if you tether some one who shot a tether do you lose your tether? Also as hunters always take skill (ha) you and 90% of people don't even know what night stalker does. Night stalker is a defensive ambush class You are meant to bait and trap Keyword TRAP Tether is meant to be dropped behind a corner and unsuspecting pray run into it and boom free kill (more or less) Every hunter acts like it's an offensive class like storm caller and sun breaker. Why do you think your grenade cuts off parts of the area with fire or a void spike? If you use it correctly it works as intended it's not meant to be a reactionary super like foh or nova bomb. Next time you run crucible try baiting and trapping enemies I'm 100% sure you will have an easier time.
