Thoughts on loot

First, thank you for taking the time to listen to all the people complaining about this. I hope this is some constructive feedback for you guys. Quick Destiny Resume: - Cleared King's Fall multiple times (including within the first 36 hours it opened - Rank 5 in Iron Banner on 3 characters regularly (including this week) - Sherpa'd Skolas, Crota's End, Vault of Glass, Spindle Mission, Exotic sword quests, and more - Admin for clan of 95 members - Made it to the lighthouse multiple times - Played 1800 hours without a gjallarhorn (thank you for selling it before it was nerfed. It was a lot of fun) Now on to my thoughts... I hope the quick resume shows that I am invested in Destiny. I love this game and the community has lead to me making some great friends with people all around the world. This leads me to be a bit...passionate about loot drops sometimes. Let me start by talking about King's Fall. Problem 1 King's Fall is incredible, if I could personally thank Luke Smith and the raid team I would. I spent 28 hours on it the weekend it came out and I don't regret it a bit. Though my boss think's it is weird I would take time off work to play a video game. The one thing that has been bugging me are the drops. Why is it that the drops can really suck? Let me explain, I have cleared King's Fall every week since it dropped with my warlock. In all those times running it, I haven't had a single armor drop at 310, in fact, the highest I have had is 308. But not just my warlock, my hunter and titan have not had a single armor piece drop at 310 either. To take it one step further, the only gear I have gotten from King's Fall that was 310 is the fusion rifle. Which means in the dozen or so clears I have from the raid, I have had a single piece of gear drop at 310. Now, with Hard Mode looming the end of the week, I'm looking at trying to complete it with a character whose highest achievable level is 305, possibly 306. And that doesn't even touch on the fact that I haven't had a helmet drop on any of the three characters yet, and despite dumping over 100 hours since TTK, my best warlock helmet is 294. Suggestion: I understand not wanting all the gear to drop immediately at 310, but could we just get a little better scaling on armor? Maybe make it a 75% percent chance to drop at your current level or higher, and 25% chance to be lower. That way if I'm running a 305 character, my chances are significantly better to get a gear piece at 305+ rather than 300. Problem 2 Pvp drops are bad right now. I know you're hearing it a lot, but it's for a reason. Crucible pre-TTK was great. It felt like if you played Crucible, you would get something worthwhile pretty often. Right now, it doesn't even feel like a grind, it just feel pointless. If i'm lucky, REALLY lucky, I might get some thing that I can infuse something else with. Legendaries seem to be dropping at an extremely reduced rate from what they were before, and the ones that are dropping are so low in light they aren't worth the time it takes to break them down. And with the recent nerf to weapon parts (more on that in a bit), you can't even level gear up if you wanted to do so by just playing Crucible without playing for hours on end which some people just can't do. Suggestion: Get rid of the weapon part nerf. Just throw it away and apologize to the community with a tweet "hey, sorry about that, we love you guys." Then guarantee a blue drop, add glimmer for wins (maybe 100/win, bonus for top two players), then motes, coins, and legendaries should be the regular drops. Maybe you could give guardian kills a chance to drop engrams? Or what if every kill streak got you a blue or green drop. 15+ streaks could be legendaries. (you can see the data on how often those are accomplished, maybe only blues would be fitting). Problem 3 The Iron Banner. It's not worth saying to much here because you're hearing it from everywhere I'm sure. So I won't address the drop rates other than to say it's terrible compared to the last Iron Banner we had. My issue is with gear quality. 280 light? Really? I was honestly stunned when I saw that. Assuming trials is going to be in the 300-310 range, why on earth was Iron Banner 280? I'm not saying it needed to be 310 from [Removed: Shaxx] Saladin, but if I'm playing Iron Banner and I'm level 300+, 280 gear isn't just unappealing, it's practically insulting for the amount of effort it takes to acquire it. On top of that it costs legendary marks and on top of that you've nerfed weapon parts so that upgrading it would take an insane amount of grinding just to get it to the level I'm already at! Guess what I bought from [Removed: Shaxx] Saladin? A shader. By accident. I might buy the pulse rifle, but even then I don't feel like upgrading that all the way to 300 when weapon parts are becoming more and more precious. After all, why would I want that gun when I'm already playing the 'competitive' Iron Banner without it? Suggestion: Next Iron Banner, gear sold and dropped should be at 300. Not less than 295 at least. Problem 4 While well documented, weapon parts is technically (if not indirectly) part of the loot table. As a player who loves Destiny, one of my favorite aspects is the gear. I love leveling it, seeing what I like, what I don't like, and playing around with different builds in both PvE and PvP. When I try out a gun, I like to level it, fully unlock it, and use it. With the new weapon part nerf, (and armor part nerf?) I feel like I can't enjoy that aspect of the game. I had well over 300 parts last week, and now I'm dwindling dangerously low because the amount I use to infuse is not being replenished as fast as I use them. I often level a gun, run with it, decide I don't like it, and break it down. But that means I put in 40 or so weapon parts and got 4-6 back in return. If that isn't atrocious, I don't know what is. So now, I feel like I can't level a gun to try it out because I will be severely handicapped if I don't like it. I just lost out on well over 30 parts because I didn't like a gun. It's already affecting my play as I have a couple guns I would like to try, but because I need to save parts for other gear (like raid gear) I can't waste the parts to upgrade them. Suggestion: A couple ideas here. One is to keep the weapon part nerf in place BUT if I break down a piece of fully upgraded gear, I should get back at least 90% of the parts I put in that gun/armor. A second idea is just remove the nerf. Just get rid of it. It's bad enough that it takes 10 parts-per-upgrade getting 2-3 per blue. That literally means it would take ~20 blues just to upgrade a single legendary. I want to be able to have fun with my gear. I don't care if I have 10,000 weapon parts or 100, as long as it doesn't hold me back from enjoying the weapons and armor I find throughout the game. Final thoughts As a whole, TTK has been the most fun I've had since the first month of Destiny. But at the highest levels of gameplay, there need to be some adjustments. Let those of us who invest 2000 hours into your game enjoy playing with all the gear we find, and let the people who have played it for 50 hours feel they can reach those same levels of play. Don't intentionally or unintentionally punish us for trying different gear. Encourage it! Give everyone the ability to reach King's fall without the bottleneck of parts or crappy rolls. Trust me, the more gear I get to try, the more loot I get to upgrade and breakdown will keep me much more engaged in the game than if I get throttled for upgrading a gun, then deciding I don't like it. I know you guys are listening, I'm sure the teams are hard at work. Keep it up! Show the community you're listening like you have before. Don't go backwards, go forwards. It is your Destiny.

 • I'm working on completing the raid with my team, but we are doing it blind (no outside sources of information). I was able to achieve rank 5 in IB this week. I run nightfall, strikes, etc throughout the week too. Court of Oryx when I find enough people playing to attempt the higher tier challenges. All I can say is that the loot system down right sucks. Repetitive drops, rares with no infusion value due to the fact that they drop with far too low attack/defense values to be useful, and the Raid bosses/exotic chest (as far as we can tell, we believe it is) have dropped nothing but wormspore and mouldering shards. To sum things up, I haven't increased my light level on my hunter or warlock in 3 weeks. It is extremely frustrating and you literally hit a wall where it seems like you can make no more progress. All the things that you can supposedly do to get better loot have not worked consistently, and when they do, they drop me the same crap I already have (and therefore, since I have already infused items I think are worth keeping, these items are just taken apart). They need to start making fixing attack/defense values to the difficulty of the activity you are doing. For example. Nightfall is light level 280 recommended. Therefore, NOTHING in the nightfall should drop at under 275. The normal raid requires light level 290. So nothing should drop lower than level 285. Heroic strikes require light level 260. So nothing should drop under 255. Make definite tiers for items so that we can target which activities are most likely to help us level up. Right now, its just a total crap fest and I often find myself wondering why I play this stupid game. I can tell you this- once we complete our blind raid run, I'm probably jumping ship as there is not really much left for me in this game.
