Fully leveling should be reflected by gear, not by participation in a single activity

This is my proposed solution/suggestion to improve the Destiny experience. I think that fully leveling should be accessible to every play style. To do that I think that the gear the player has should reflect how they achieved the maximum light level. The changes I'm suggesting seem pretty drastic and are more reflective of the type of game I'd like to see from the sequel. As it is now, there are Vanguard(PvE) variants and Crucible(PvP) variants of gear. Prior to launch it seemed as though we would be inspecting other players and and be able to determine what they play in Destiny the most based on what gear they have equipped. While partially true, this sense is diluted by vendors selling the same gear that can drop and engrams obtained in a PvE activity turning into Crucible gear and vice versa. Right now you can reach a certain level from just playing the story/strikes or Crucible, all of which has matchmaking. To get past that "cap" you have to either play the most current raid or play Trials of Osiris. Neither of which has matchmaking. Which is fine considering the nature of the activities. It's just inconsistent with the entire rest of the game and how leveling works. Both of those activities also have their own unique gear that represent them. What I am proposing is to offer both a PvE and PvP alternative with matchmaking that allows players to reach max level from more accessible "pick up and play" activities that don't require LFG and coordinating with people you don't know. Each activity with their own unique gear that reflects how the player reached the current level cap. The status of raid and Trials gear will still remain as players will be aware of where this gear was attained. For the sake of loot drop values in what im going to propose, I'll state that all gear from story/strikes and the regular Crucible would drop st no higher than 300 attack/defense values, as it is now. We'll start with the PvE side of things. Particularly the Nightfall. Which is technically not that anymore since that modifier no longer applies. This could be replaced with a new activity that allows for once a week per character rewards just like the Nightfall. My personal favorite as a suggestion for a new mode that I've seen suggested by others since launch is defending the city. Match up 4-6 Guardians and drop them in front of a wall or some barrier that signifies the edge of the city and have them survive waves of enemies ending with a boss. It could be themed appropriately to march the current state of the universe and modifiers would change every week. For example right now the enemy would be Taken, possibly with some Hive thrown in. An alternative suggestion would be something similar but a different variation, one on each planet. No new areas required, just use the current patrol areas. Again drop 4-6 Guardians off and give them objectives to complete and different areas to defend while something is scanned and end it with a boss. This would have matchmaking and require a light level of 295+. Once a week up to two pieces of randomized unique gear would drop being any attack/defense between 295 and the current cap. Now for the PvP side of things. I think The Iron Banner should be utilized for this as it could remain active all the time. It would have matchmaking and the required light level would again be 295+. The matches would be either Clash or Control, 6v6. Payers would need to win a certain amount of matches per week and then Lord Saladin would give them a package that would contain their rewards which would again be restricted to once a week per character and would be an attack/defense value between 295 and whatever the current cap is. Both of these PvE and PvP modes would have one unique piece of each armor, weapon, ship, sparrow, shader, etc, per add on. What this does is afford every play style the ability to fully level at the same pace. This also allows people with time constraints due to work, family, etc, and primarily solo players to fully level so that in the event that they finally do find the time or desire to try out that new raid or Trials, they will have comparable gear that lets them comfortably play with everyone. Gear restriction LFG issues will be much less of a problem. The game with open up and people will have several sets of gear to earn if they wish to. Let me know what you guys think and bump if you like it!
