Petition to add an Auction House in the Tower (Note: To avoid showing ignorance, read description fully before replying!)

I wish there was a way to trade or auction off weapons that you don't want or have multiples of. I've got 3-4 telestos, 3 suros, 3 invective, 2 hereafters. I like them, but don't need so many multiples. I'd also like to be able to trade glimmer, black wax idols, or helium filaments, or whatever somebody asks for their weapons. What do you all think, wouldn't an auction house be awesome in Destiny? Edit: Whoa! People I'm seeing a ton of replies, people saying no, people would be ripping other people off or whatever. There would in no way be any type of real currency involved, at all! It would be a room or kiosk where you would put your weapon up for auction for a set minimum, say like $3000 glimmer and 50 spinmetal for a Telesto. People could then go to the kiosk and see what is for auction. The bidding would start from there. The items would be on auction for a few days or a week. At the end of that period the weapon or armor piece that was being auctioned, would go to the highest bidder. It would all be anonymous and wouldn't involve any kind of real money at all.

  • I like the idea but it will not work in Destiny for one reason and one reason alone - currency caps. Essentially all you would have to do is wager 200 marks, or 25000 glimmer and you get it. So it would no longer be an auction, just a first to bid max gets it.

    • I'd like to be able to sell weapons I don't need. Glimmer, motes, strange coins in return

    • They will never add any sort of trading. Someone told me they asked blizzard what not to do they said never add trading.

    • The biggest problem I see is we'd need an actual currency system, as glimmer is basically worthless. Other than that, blind auctions (no names listed) could help the worry of selling stuff for real money, as everybody seems so worried about that.

    • IMO I think Destiny would need to triple the amount legendaries/exotics to even consider an auction house there are just not enough weapons in the game, everyone would have everything. Also i think that raid items/quest items would need to be bound.

    • I'd be that guy selling exotics for 20 black wax idols and a strange coin.

    • It would work better if the armory weren't as limited

    • Nope it would create a disaster. Destiny is finally on a really good path. Let's keep it that way

    • So basically instead of doing any real work In the game you want to encourage people to farm and sit at an auction house instead. Great idea

    • If Destiny added this, it would have the same problem that Diablo 3 had. They removed the whole auction house because it got bad!

    • Here are my thoughts on the Auction House idea... Work it like a raffle. Exotics that require completion of a quest cannot be Raffled off. RNG items ONLY. No real world money should be involved, ever. Putting an item into raffle will give you back and engram equivalent to what you put in. Example: you submit a Suros Regime into the raffle you get an Exotic Primary Engram. Your first raffle entry of the day is free, after that, each one costs you 5,000 glimmer, this is to prevent people from re-rolling engrams and flooding the market. You can buy as many tickets as you want to increase your chance of winning the item. These raffle tickets can be paid for with any currency, material or consumable, but at a rate designed to be inflated so people can get rid of their excess, such as 1 ticket for 2 exotic shards. Currency used to buy raffle tickets is gone forever. Any item can only be raffled 1 time in its life. This is also to prevent market saturation. The raffle period for any given item will be dependent upon how many of that same item are up for raffle. The more duplicates there are, the shorter each raffle period is. This is, again, to help prevent market saturation. Within the raffle period, if no tickets are purchased the item is gone forever. Maximum raffle period is 2 hours, minimum 15 minutes. Thoughts?

        • I'd say make trading like CS:GO and be forced to trade something of equal value

        • Trading would only work among a fire team at the rewards screen. Only players who played the entire instance could trade. Trading and dropping gear really killed the vibe of Borderlands, it probably wouldn't lead to item duping as it did there but this community is quite crafty.

          • Wouldn't be opposed to an even exotic for exotic trading system. Would have to be same light. Cost 10k glimmer from each party to make the trade.

Problem 1: People that have never raided before would easily be able to get max light just by farming patrols for a while. Problem 2: Most people would rather dismantle duplicate weapons than sell them for useless glimmer and useless spinmetal/relic iron etc. Solution: Maybe an exchange. Example: FFS I keep getting the Hunters Alpha Lupi, I really want Praxis for my warlock. Oh hey look, this guy has a Praxis up for trade, and wants an Alpha! Trade, plus some glimmer which goes to neither party as a way of a gold sink. Now we have 2 people that have "Earnt" the rewards, and a way of filtering Glimmer out of the system to make it more valuable again.

          • Even blizzard said their AH system was a problem. Also if you didn't know, gold farmers would ruin the market like they did for a few servers in wow with failed economies

          • Only way i would implement this is if you had to trade an exotic for an exotic, ledendary for legendary, ect... also they have to be of the same level. That way you would have had to gotten far enough to get a weapon of that type.

          • You do realize that you can buy an infinite number of an exotic weapon you have right? Cause that alone breaks the idea of your suggestion.

            • I think the only way destiny could implement any form a trading system without breaking the game would to go about it like WoW bind on pick-up works. After you get an item, you are allowed to trade it to anyone the completed the event with you for a few hours, 4 I think. For example if you ran nightfall with a friend, and got a hereafter, but already have it, you could trade it to that one friend for 4 hours. Even this system has its flaws though, especially in a game like destiny. Someone could just run the raid over and over again with different friends, and they could all just give him the loot he needed.

            • WoW and Diablo did it, so I don't see why it wouldn't work.
