Destiny's New Loot System (My Concept)

Hello fellow Guardians! So, we all have recognized the issues with the loot system we deal with and I have devised an alternative method of obtaining gear. It solves literally almost every complaint with the loot system. Feel free to skip the problem and head straight to the solution if you know already. Let's get started. The Problems 1. RNG is unreliable. We saw this too many times with the Gjallarhorn and the elitism and exclusion the community adapted, especially during Crota's End and Skolas. No matter how many hours you invest or skill you possess, you can still be without a Gjallarhorn, Hawkmoon, or whatever god weapon there is. 2. The light level and hoping for good rolls/good stats can have some very detrimental results. I also just recently played The Taken King story again and got crapped on by RNG during the most crucial moment; the Oryx battle. I got a slow RoF hand cannon with five rounds in the mag and a painfully slow reload, a shotgun with no range, and a machine gun that I couldn't find and ammo for. I had to use these due to their attack values/light levels being the highest. Wasn't hard, but it took me like 30 or 40 minutes alone. Or, maybe you got a raid weapon that blows. But that light level... Or a sniper with great stats, but garbage perks. We settle far too much. 3. Reforging is gone. The one amount of control we had, which was little, is now gone. There are SIX random factors that contribute to the performance of a piece of armor(the two cooldown slots, the light/def stat, the three perks and SEVEN OR MORE for weapons, depending on how many stats are important to you, (the scope of preference, the stats -bout 2 on average-, the light/attack stat, the three perks). There is so much chance, and the one thing we had is gone. 4. It hurts self expression. You can have a great looking piece of armor, but it performs so poorly. The cooldown stats blow, the perks are useless, and it brings your light down. So in your vault or inventory it stays... Etheric light improves this somewhat, but here we are again. Sure infusion is alright, but how many times have you been off by one point and are a lower light level for it? The Solution (Originally created August 7th) 1. Quests. And, no by quests, I do not mean really long bounties. Seriously Bungie. Especially that exotic sword quest... I mean quests that emulate World of Warcraft, Skyrim, Runescape, Fable, the like. I'm talking about mini missions and strike type gameplay pertaining to the weapon. I want to play the story of tracking Dredgen Yor and his past to get Thorn. I want follow Toland's fall to insanity that led to Bad Juju. I want to see the history of the battle of Twilight Gap and get the Gjallarhorn as a monument to that battle. The Wolves of Mars actually did a GREAT job of this. I want more quests like it. Yeah it'll take more work, but that''s what I'm paying Bungie for. I believe every exotic deserves its own quest. Quests would give items so much more meaning and they would make them accessible. End of story. 2. The second way to gain loot is also an accessible and fun system for loot. A skill system. Again, think Runescape, WoW, Skyrim, etc. A system in which each skill has a level and you do a variation of activities to progress that level. Here is my full idea for each skill. Gunsmithing - Create weapons by choosing their stats through an amount of points you spend wisely. Choose the perks through the same system (each have a point value of their own). Choose the sights/scopes to use. Materials would be used as well. Also, choose the model, accessories to the model, and finish, to make the gun look how you want. As you level up, you earn more perks, models, sat point caps, etc. Armorsmithing - Basically, the same as Gunsmithing, but with armor. Cryptoarchaeology - Learn the skill of decrypting engrams. Use puzzles and quick time meters (think blacksmithing in Fable 2) to get better results from your engrams. The higher your level, the higher you can increase your drop rates and/or engram decryption. Probably use a stat point cap for that too. Outfitting - Create your own emblems and shaders for your armor, weapons, ghosts, sparrows, and ships. The higher your level, the more options to use. Terra/Astroengineering - Create your own ships and sparrows. customize how they look and stats. The higher your level, the more models and stat points you can have. Mining - Learn new methods and level up to gain more efficient ways of gathering materials. Bounty Hunting - Complete bounties and level up to earn more rep, XP, and glimmer from them. Also, maybe some cool side quests or gear available from doing so. Generation (name subject to change) - Create consumables and get more out of them as you level up. 3. RNG. "WHAT?!?!? You just spent like 5 scroll downs elaborating what we're doing to avoid it!" Bear with me. RNG in itself is not horrible. It's only when RNG is your only method of gaining gear that it becomes toxic. Some actually do enjoy the grind. It's simple, the fun is in the gamble, I get it. So, bring back the loot cave and exotic farming. keep the strike grinding going. Let people do it if they want. The point is, the alternative methods should be so much fun, that you won't want to do these. Some people don't have much time though or just get more enjoyment from exploits. Good for them. Let them exploit. Aside from that, RNG can add a little spice to the game. doing a Nightfall and getting that weapon you've been wanting, finding a sweet exotic or legendary from a chest or enemy just adds excitement. The point is that this is only positive. People won't whine because there are other methods of how to get the same loot, but these are just cool, bonus prizes. Overall, I believe this will satisfy all players. Those who don't have much time to play and miss out on great gear for it, those who want to play more, those who want more story attached to loot, and those who enjoy grinding. As well as you all of the abovers out there like me. So, thoughts?
