Nightfall Raiding
I was talking to my clan the other night, and the topic of a hypothetical Nightfall tier Raid came up.
Every week*, one of our existing three raids will rotate in as the Weekly Nightfall Raid.
The raid will have a set of 5 modifiers similar to current Nightfall strikes, which will change based on which raid is being featured.
The spawning will work similar to how it does in hard mode raids; If you die, you cannot be revived.
Upon a full team wipe, you will be respawned at the last checkpoint your team had reached.
If your team returns to orbit without completing the Nightfall Raid fully, your progress will be reset. You have to complete the entire raid at one time.
Completing the Weekly Nightfall Raid could reward Year 2 exotics, Year 2 versions of Year 1 exotics, Year 2 versions of old raid armor and weapons, special emblems/ shaders/ ships, legendary marks, tons of rep, tons of strange coins, etc.
Would you give it a go?
It would give us a good reason to revisit year one end game content, as well as providing a new challenge to our current end game.
Share your thoughts and ideas for this new weekly challenge!
*A lot of members of the community have suggested that the Nightfall Raid gets rotated bi-weekly, or even monthly.

My added thoughts:
-Remember that sweet blue flame that year one nightfall completions gave us? They didn't make it into year two. :( Maybe those who complete the Weekly Nightfall Raid can see this legendary flame once more? A very possible and unique reward that is currently missing.
-Thinking about the blue flame a bit more, Bungie could add a new never seen before particle effect specifically for this triumph. Imagine landing back at the tower after completing the WNR, and your entire team has lightning streaking all over them. Or possibly motes of light swirling around them. Bungie played around with such cosmetic effects in Halo Reach. It wouldn't be too farfetched to add some new visual enhancements for such a feat.
-Another reward from the WNR could be a secondary set of armor. Imagine getting a new set of 310 vog gear from the vog NF! It could be a year 2 set of the same gear, or Bungie could add a completely new set just for this activity. Now I'm really starting to hype myself up on this idea. Damnit!
-I was wondering how long it would take before someone came in throwing around the term "elitist." We didn't even make it to 50 replies. Let me clarify for anyone else who thinks this way: I am not claiming to be good at Destiny. I am not claiming that my fireteam/clan will even be able to complete these challenges. What I am trying to do is put some constructive feedback into these forums to make Destiny a better game. If all you can do is come in and call me an elitist, you are doing the opposite of helping this community.
Agreed! Great idea

GT so dunzo message for invite night fall light level 300
-
super necrobump
-
With my luck I'd still just get a few strange coins from doing that
-
This would be amazing
-
What if instead they took one encounter and multiplied the difficulty.
-
Or just have a regular nightfall and a nightfall raid....hell, even throw Poe in there....lol jk

I refuse to let this idea get lost in the sea of negative threads! Let us make this happen!

Not a fan of the spawn mechanics. Kind of defeats the purpose of revive helms and perks that enhance reviving. Self-res warlocks would be the only ones able to do it. I think that revives should be available with a full orbital reset upon a wipe. (Original Nightfall mechanics)
-
Good idea but needs revives as the original nightfall had.
-
Bump, for the sake of endgame!
-
so. why wouldnt it be called modified hard or something cause no revives is already a thing

I still have some of my y1 vog gear. I would run the piss outta this! Hell yea!
-
Omg yes
-
We basically have year 2 raid gear I.e. Tread upon stars = year 2 vision of confluence Changing SOME perks and textures Would add to the lore (Instead of Kabr's greaves fo example we could have a new raid teams gear) bungie could incorporate taken and an alternate time line, leading us to a vex dlc
-
Constructive it is, my friend. You and your people need to keep up the good work; we need more like you and your group. Stay innovative, Guardian.
-
Creative way to bring old raids into the mix. The only thing is I wouldn't want top tier weapons to drop. Keep the beat drops for the current oryx raid. Well put.
-
I would wear the shit outta year 2 vog armor
-
-
It would be a great way to do the old raids again!
