Destiny cant be played without a large friends list
Friends is the wrong word. My friends are people I know who would never do the kind of bs some of these gamers do. I play video games for entertainment not to socialize with people who are only using me to complete a mission and then never hear from them again. This whole thing appears related to the rise of social media. Video games have been around a lot longer and games like this one leave a large part of the gaming community out. The developers only care about the money and their ability to keep selling this product. A company like rockstar doesn't hide behind a bs website as its only means of support. They have a real phone...

Since then I've made over 100 friends through this game alone, many who are still actively playing. I seek out people who play well and have good attitudes. That's it. Age makes no difference; they range in my list from 12 to 47. Bungie designed Destiny to locate new strangers into your life, team up and tackle endgame content together. Does it suck for the lone wolves out there? Yes. I don't dispute that. But I find it's not difficult to meet up with people who share a similar interest in the same game. Sure I have noticed certain negative outlooks within such as cheaters and those who act like they own the world but thinning out the wheat from the chaff I find is quite simple. And you're looking at a 30yo who was terrified of social interaction growing up. When I first heard a voice come into my Kinect after I joined a party, my body was shaking. Although in this case of the original poster I can tell it's not about being shy, I just wanted to share my story. If you find though that meeting people who are regulars in Destiny and are fun to talk to then my firm advice is that this is not the game you're looking for. I do feel Bungie could've made it more sociable but it is what it is.

2 RepliesI don't mean to sound like an Ahole but do you guys have any idea how bad an experience your raid teams would be if there was match making for 6 people? 3 man strikes are bad enough and strikes are easy. But if that's what you really want I'll support it for you bungie give these people match making for raids just please leave the app for the rest of us.

Theoretically, since you can infuse exotics into legendaries, you can hit 300+ without ever doing a raid :/

15 Thats the total number of people on my friends list. Of those 2 don't even own a ps4 (just ps3), one is a random I added a long time ago and forgot to delete, 3 stopped playing Destiny altogether... Yet somehow I manage to play the game just fine. Kings Fall doesn't interest me in the slightest (a massive time sink for sh*t gear and you can hit 306-307 without ever raiding), nightfall rewards aren't worth the effort... There are plenty of other activities to keep me occupied.

Think it should have match making for a option at least. For those that can't find a team. Most ask you to know what it doing or for a high light lvl.

3 RepliesHell yeah bro the majority of people on my FL from destiny are leeches, I have multiple people on my FL who a ask for the raid, the nightfall anything that benefits them, me and my squad have basically mastered the raid and one shot through all bosses but when throughout the week I do raids on my other characters with random people and I just feel so bad for the guys who don't know the fights because the party leader just treats them soo bad 🙅 and kick them out, and MOST of those people asking for high light lvl characters and have your "oh I beat the raid" emblem aren't even all that great. I just really hate how people treat each other on here, most guardians are consumed by darkness, than fight for the light

The problem is also that Bungie has hijacked the Xbox friends list. I've had the same tag forever since say 2003 I think playing Ghost Recon and Golf. As well lots of friends from a long run committed to excellence in FFXI. Needles to say I don't have room to drop actual friends that I often know their real name. So I don't really have enough room for a solid Destiny population that can lead to raid help. So I'm jailed to LFG on an app. So awesome that on a Wednesday afternoon there was only one other looking for NF. Bravo Bungie, bravo!

I understand where you are coming from but if you use the site to find people to run the raid you will eventually find a group that you will constantly run the raid with. For the most part as long as your are a good player, get along with them, and are on a decent amount most people will keep you on their friend list to raid again so they don't have to find people again on the site. This is really just to help people meet each other and without raids this game would be a waste of time tbh. Just suck it up and play with people until you find a group that you like playing with. Then you will have a friend list!

3 RepliesYeah without a solid 5 friends to run raids with you are either begging strangers on some silly ass site or you are completely SOL. I am NOT in the top 5 friends of any of my so called friend's list to go raid with which means I am out of 1/3rd of the content ever since the game was released. I lucked out in Glass raid and due to wolves 'raid' was only three man but even that was nearly impossible in about one week due to everyone getting geared up with that expansion so fast. They need matchmaking there is no reason for me to pay for 2/3rds of content no matter how good the game now is. Especially when that is a simple fix.

Once again. Playstation has done Bungies job. You dont need to have everyone listed as a friend on your playstation account. Simply join one of your friends communities! Make a community and let people join. And say this loudly. say it proudly. -blam!- you bungie!

1 ReplyTo me it just doesn't make sense to not have optional matchmaking for everything, even for raids. Its optional, so people dont have to use it. It is an online game, matchmaking is a must. Even gta online has matchmaking for its heists which usually requires communication. I have even done all the heists without a mic.

lets take a look at other games that brough ENDGAME pve and matchmaking together. 1. WoW, they had to nerf the content, simplifing mechanics and allowing for more forgiveness for mistakes within the raid, they also REMOVED mechanics, all for the sake of "allowing players to see the content" 2. umm...honestly i can't think of any other pve games with raid style content and matchmaking..anyone care to help me out?

Raid matchmaking just would not work. It is way to demanding and hard to get a raid done and people would also just come in for a loot drop and then leave and some people wouldn't have mics or would have them but not use them. An in game group finder would be nice though. At least that would make things a little less aggravating for those who do need to find other players to raid with.

I am also not sure how alienating gamers allows them to make more money. What does Facebook have to do with anything? I don't think I have mentioned Facebook 1 time prior to this post. As for the website people like it for stats, I don't use it for anything other than forums, news, and my characters.

Y1 wasn't bad. I didn't need a friends list to get a lot done. I could use lfg for what I couldn't solo. Y2. I'm not using LFG for certain tasks because they should naturally be matchmade. I can't finish quite a few tasks that don't even call for fireteams. I've never liked this high school guidance counselor role Bungie has been taking about forcing people to be "social". Especially when they don't provide any means of being social. I can join a fire team, fulfil the minimum interaction to complete the task. Forcing me to go above and beyond that is ridiculous.
