Tower and Reef "social" hub not that social
When in the tower or reef you see a lot of guardians running around but for being a social hub where everyone meets up to do business, why isnt there a way to post a note or status like "hoping to raid" or "need help on quest".
It would be a welcoming note for other players that are on similar tasks and the like. I personally would find that more inviting then sending random pms through console OS or on the forums, where you have to find out time zones, locations abd the like. The guardians you see on now running around are probably playing at their regular times and it would be more likely you will play with them again.
Thoughts?

ESO has social areas with people actually talking and its amazing. My first day, there was a guy running around shirtless yelling "everybody get to the fountain! Hurry get to the fountain!" Got to the fountain, nothing. Just a huge group of people.

It was just a selling point for house of wolves and that's it. One more thing to promote, if they said it was just 3 new vendors ( which they could've just added to the tower) than people wouldn't have been to excited about that.

1 ReplyOne thing I love about another game I play, which is on two old gen consoles (ps3 and x360) as well as PC - there's a full on ingame text chat. With channels for clan, the entire current instance, local area, and even includes whispering to other players as well as group/fireteam chat. And that makes it quite a lot easier to find others for activities (when there's others interested in those activities, and they're reachable) Something like that is something destiny should have had from the start. Having to hit a button, then another button, then move a cursor to view gamer card, scroll down 5 times to send message, select voice or text, then enter a voice or text message.... all that's just too cumbersome for trying to find people for activities. Also: relying on XBL messages - creates shit tons of spam messages from people sending mass messages to their last 100 recent players. Quite -blam!-ing annoying most of the time. @Bungie: add ingame chat.

1 ReplyThis has been posted countless times by countless people and hasn't even been acknowledged as far as I've seen. Obviously, the complete lack of social features in the "social" space, combined with the complete lack of in game lfg or endgame matchmaking are pretty staggering oversights.

It's a console game that THINKS it's a PC game and yet, no real match making. They want it to be social and yet, minimal ways to do so, if at all. Not going on LFG sites anymore. Not interesting in making temporary friends. I want to play but Bungie would rather I didn't.

Don't use common sense other developers been using since 2001 they might actually call your idea original.

This game needs to be put on PC so we can untether the line and make mods that would have more content and functionality that Bungie is ever willing to release. Could they do it? Yes! Will they do it? No! Why because it doesn't make them money. If you open up the easy raid via matchmaking or group fictions the bigger base of the game will chew though the "content" faster. So it's in their best interest to keep you from getting groups together. Also note how all events are 3 man until the raid so you can't always run with your raid. Leading to separation in some cases.

Destiny, the game with so much social interaction that we do the same in real life to our community, point, dance, wave and sit. Destiny where actions speak louder than words.

I really want them to fix the social problem because it is their damn game. Anyway, what if players set up specific places to go when they need help with specific things? Need others for raid or story? Hang out in vanguard room with cayde, zavala, and ikora. Need help with quests? Hang out by the shipwright? Need help in crucible? Hang out by lord shaxx. Maybe that's too simple but it would be a start for in game matchmaking haha. I just want bungie to fix their own problems, and actually listen to feedback. And i doubt people would even realize your plight. People dont even join me when i invite them and message politely what i need help with and if they would help me. TL:DR If we all went somewhere that corresponds to our mission at the time, and had an understanding that that spot is for people who need help, we may circumvent the stupid anti matchmaking decisions of bungie.

Agree 100%. I've had similar thoughts about this for a while. What I think would be a good idea would be to allow us a kind of messaging device accessed in our menu or with our ghost where we can type a message that appears in the feed in bottom left and anyone in your location can see it. Either way, we need a more direct way to contact other players in our areas rather than having to send messages via PSN or XboxLive messaging.
