Dunno if this is still a big problem for anyone else since the official thread locked itself from inactivity, but I have just started seeing this error. Destiny worked fine last year at my university, I enjoyed starting the taken king at the end of summer, but now I am back at uni and I can't even load the character select screen to finish my (very expensive) journey.
