The most iconic Warlock helmet doesn't even exist anymore.

The Nerigal Savant III now known as "howd you change obsidian minds color bro" is a legendary helmet for the Warlock. It is present in a lot of artwork, Bnet avatars (like mine), and even the live-action trailer being worn by the Warlock. It's also one of the rarest items, almost unseen in-game, due to what I like to call The Great Dismantling.
(Cryptarch voice) *Clears throat* The Great Dismantling happened long ago, before the coming of Crota's End was even announced. Back then, the only thing guardians were interested in doing as soon as they got to level 20 was to get to level 30. Max level. Only obtainable by the brave guardians that took on the then-daunting Vault of Glass. We grinded, shot at a cave for exhausting periods of time and, eventually, we got legendary armor pieces to help us take on Atheon, master of error-code shenanigans and expert Relic-bubble trespasser. With experience and a bit of luck on our side, we did it. We got the entire VoG set, even those pesky Heavy Ammo boots that never seemed to drop for some reason. We were so happy. No longer would we be shunned by those jerks at LFG and their "No-29s-pls" elitism and that felt good. Very good. Then, we did the unthinkable... Blinded by the relief of not having to see an almost-full yellow bar below our names and a nice, GOLD 30, we decided to do it. Purple armor all across the universe, on all console platforms... the very same armor we had used all this time to achieve our level-30 goal was suddenly no longer 'good enough' for us proud, arrogant, raid-gear-wearing Guardians, and we held X... (or 🝳). As if we were smothering a pillow over an old friend's face until he stopped struggling, the red bar rushed through our items until they disappeared right in front of us, leaving only glimmer.. and sadness. Some of us kept it on our vaults for a while... Until Crota came, offering us armor with even MORE light, taunting our thirst for superiority once again. The choice then became obvious. The time had come to say goodbye to our favorite armors, helmets, gauntlets, and boots, and the Great Dismantling continued...
The best looking armor is nowhere to be found, except on the bodies of a very small number of proud guardians that maintained hope to the very end, and were rewarded the EASIEST choice involving Etheric Light. I miss you, Nerigal Savant. I'm sorry.
