I really hope that with The Taken King class items will be able to change with the shader equiped, for example the new Aspriet cloak for the hunter. It would be amazing if you equiped the revenant shader and it changed the way the cloak looked. With that said I hope all class items in TTK will change color with your shader, not just stick out and not match the rest of your guardian. I'm sure a lot of Destiny players would also like to know if we can wear an exotic class item with an exotic armor piece.
