Would you like that? Let's get 10,000 likes bumps & votes. Maybe they'll do it.. I want that open world they were talking about. Looks like a bunch of haters are coming here to vote no, but have nothing to say.. these haters are probably the 7% who voted no on my vault storage thread... These haters will enjoy the vault storage, and the open world, once we get it... Whether it's done in Destiny or not, it's important to plant the seed as early as possible, and let these LIARS know, we preordered an open world, not linear lifeless un-interesting bland areas, with nothing but a couple of mindless bots to kill.. and there's no blood :-//

  • figured out what Destiny is. Instead of it being a "shared world shooter," it's a "shared [i]linear[/i] shooter." It's pretty much a Halo game but no wall goes up once you enter the next area.

Go to 2:20. The game was designed and even developed with an open-world concept when it was originally advertised in demos.

      BUMP! Also, why is the land so dull and lifeless...still. When I'm running through the Dreadnought, there better be thrall scaling the walls in the distance. I want to see armies of Hive and Taken marching to ships and teleporters and prepping for war. Remember in Halo Reach when you saw vehicle battles in the distance? It was awesome. Why? Because it made me feel immersed into a bigger conflict. I may not be able to join that fight--though I have tried haha--but it just adds to scale of things going on. When I'm on Earth, I want to see a couple Fallen ships fly by now-and-then. Hell, make them shoot at me from time to time even. I want to see skirmishes between Fallen vehicles and Cabal vehicles in the distance. Add some god damn life to the worlds AND your AI. Even Halo 2 had more life in the entire world AND IT WAS MADE IN 2004....

      • I really wonder why they have so many invisible walls. I've explored a lot and I know there are textures in places that shouldn't be seen by players, and also the floors and walls are solid outside of the map. Really no reason to restrict people from going there.

        • It's a problem with game design and advertisement. In game design you need walls of some kind because your game can't be infinitely large. So either you put awkward invisible walls or you make every map a box canyon where you have mountains everywhere that you can't climb or you make everywhere inside a building. From a technical aspect they have to have cutoffs and limits otherwise it would be loading hell. That being said I'm glad that Bungie isn't as prolific with their soft kill zones as they were in Reach. I'm not kidding there was a firefight map with light posts with soft kill zones on them. Light posts. Tops of easily scalable buildings, etc. It was basically a rail shooter. I even made a joke forge map called the halo reach experience where you had to navigate a maze of soft kill zones. That's dumb. When they put soft kill zones in the Templar well I had a traumatic flashback to that nonsense. Second is advertisement. General rule of thumb now is that "open world" means nothing at all. It's just something you say about a game that isn't literally on rails. Basically destiny's patrol zones can't be opened up beyond what's there because everything else is a picture. Hopefully with destiny 2 not being launched on four consoles we can have larger spaces and not rely as heavily on transition zones to offset draw distances between consoles (that's why between every area there's a canyon or a corridor building, it's to offset loading times to make you take time getting to zones so they can load and you don't see too much at once).

            • So what you're saying is you want to walk past where the invisible wall is and fall infinitely until you restart the game? There is nothing there. That huge wall in the Cosmodrome? That's a picture. That maze in the Black Garden? Picture. The City below the Tower? Picture. With small exceptions such as the planes in the distance of Mothyards, all the extra stuff you see in the game, all that beautiful stuff is simply artwork. The rest is undeveloped, unrefined models placed on a picture used to represent a texture that isn't even there. Watch videos of people getting out of the map and you'll release all this. It's a little heartbreaking, realizing its fake. But that's what it all is. It's just a game.

              • Some of them makes sense. Others do not. Some of them clearly block us from seeing unfinished areas. From the building in the Steppes you can see a big gap where the Divide and the Wall are supposed to be. Stuff like that. So it makes sense from the point of view of a developer, but doesn't really help me as a player. Others just make no sense at all. There are a few building levels in Mars that you should totally be able to get on, there's absolutely no way that they could show you unfinished areas or disrupt gameplay, but they're blocked anyways. The area on Mars before you go down into the train station, I can never remember what it's called. You can sneak up onto that central rooftop, which is much higher than some of the other platforms, but almost every single other rooftop area is blocked off. It's just weird. You have a game with awesome jump abilities that should help you explore, and a good chunk of the levels have invisible walls that totally discourage it. Destiny 2 needs to have more of a vertical aspect to it. So many opportunities for hidden places and jumping puzzles.

                • There are certain kill zones/invisible walls to prevent players from trying to cheese their way through things raids strikes etc. And in crucible snipers would basically be unbeatable as they would camp so far back that they don't have to worry about the player unless they have snipers

                • Simply put, yes I'd love it, but many of the locations past the soft kill points don't exist, they are pure esthetic, and if you could get there you'd fall right through it. There are several locations on the moon where you can actually see huge holes in the world that if this were implemented would have to patched over

                      • Awe, jeesh, I found it exciting when I would run into an invisible wall, wondering if I would fall flat on my back, be given a 5 second warning to go back, or simply explode into oblivion.Besides, those that were where I would bang my head, helped the pharmaceutical companies sales of pain relievers for my headaches.

                        • I agree, but I've been raging about this since Halo. Bungie has ALWAYS teased you with beautiful scenery that you should be avow to get to (within reason) and have blocked off access for very stupid reasons.
