How To: Control

Hello my friends, today I'm going to teach you how to play Control. What's that? You already know how to play Control? Well, read through this post just to be sure you absolutely know what you're doing. Okay, so what most of you know is when you play Control, you want to capture the zones, right? All three of them is your goal? Well that's wrong. I'm here to explain why that's wrong. The Problem In Control you and your team start out at either A or C, you capture the one in front of you and run to B. Usually the better idea is to split up into two teams of three, one to B and the other to home zone. Okay now you've captured Home and B, so what do you naturally do? You run to their Home zone. This is where you've made a mistake. Let's assume you and two others capture their Home. Oh but wait, what's that? They're capturing your Home and B? How did this happen? It happen because you captured their Home, they were homeless, they needed a place to spawn when you kicked them out, so they spawned at your home base! The Solution Now that you've lost the match because of your silly mistake, you'll want to revise your plan. The problem was capturing all three zones, the fix is only capturing two of the zones. A Situation So you start another match of Control, this time you're thrown into Shores of Time. Your team has C and B, they have successfully captured two of the zones. Noticeably, these two zones are pretty close and easy to maintain, unlike A, which has 3 entrances and is a small enclosed room. This is what you want to achieve! Your team is on brink of winning the match and you're shooting to the top of the score board. Observation: Enemy Team is only spawning at A and is likely giving B a hard time, this works because C can see directly to B, sniper's rejoice. Which Zones Should I Cap? Base Game Twilight Gap~ B&A Rusted Lands~ B&C Exodus Blue~ B&C Anomaly~ B&A Firebase Delphi~ B&A Blind Watch~ B&C Shores of Time~ B&C The Dark Below The Cauldron~ B&A Pantheon~ B&A / B&C House of Wolves The Timekeeper~ B&C [Easy to shotgun players from above at C, lots of backrooms to hide in] Thieves' Den Needs Work Widow's Court Needs Work Black Shield Needs Work How do I keep these captured and how do I take a zone back? Well, if you spawn at a capture zone I didn't list on the respected match, you're most likely going to want to rush their home zone. A and C are always a home zone. For example, if you spawn on C on Twilight Gap, rush A and capture A first, then head to B. Keep these captured by taking a few teammates with you to these points. Usually toss grenades in first, and then gun the enemy down. If you're lucky, the grenades will finish the enemy off first. I find it best works with Axion Bolt, Flux Grenade, and Lightning Grenade. Titans, be sure to throw your grenades at walls, this works better than floors. Remember, while defending and killing players near your zones, you do get points. Hold the zones and kill invading players, this should rack up tons of points and you should die less if your team is there to help out, that way you're not feeding the enemy kills. Conclusion Hopefully that cleared up how to play Control effectively. Too many times do I notice a teammate capture enemy home base and then suddenly our enemies are all over the place! And more often than not, we lose those matches. If you have any suggestions on how I can improve my post or if you find anything wrong, please let me know. Who knows, maybe I'll do map commentary.
