How does oryx know?

My question is how does oryx know we killed his son, if we destroyed the device communicating with him before the dark below was even released? (I think the mission is called the shrine of oryx) where we blow up the big ball that is communicating with something out side our solar system (oryx)

This is how I imagine it. [The Dreadnought glides effortlessly through the air, silent but deadly. Rock clusters and even planets seem to move out of the way as the heavily-armed dreadnought glides past. On board, the ship is alive with activity as the Hive minions succumb to their master's will. In the center of the ship, the dark, evil throne room stirs with life as the eerie, tall shape steps into the room.] Hive Acolyte: My Lord Oryx. [The tall, lean but fearsome image of Oryx appears before him and completely ignores him as he ascends the steps to his throne. Skulls and bones have been melded into the throne so it is no ordinary throne. He who sits upon it sits upon death itself. Oryx slowly seats himself in his throne, his thick wings draping over the sides.] Acolyte: Master? [Oryx slowly raises his gaze to the Acolyte. The master's eyes burned red with hatred and evil and a fearsome snarl etched itself across his face. His roar was ferocious and darkness spat itself out from all around him in anger. Oryx's long, clawed arms dug into the throne as he made to speak.] Oryx: My son is dead. [A silence past through the room. The Hive minions that had been scuttling around before suddenly stopped and turned their heads towards Oryx in both curiosity and fear. Hive Knights stood proudly all around, waiting for their master to give them a command. There was no question which son Oryx meant. He had always referred to Crota as his only son. His one, perfect creation.] Oryx: My son is dead. The Hive Prince, your God and my SON! Hive Knight: How can this be, Lord Oryx? Crota was a God, power absolute. [Oryx eyed the brave Knight with his burning eyes and growled. Anger and revenge seethed within him and he threw himself up, his wings spreading out gloriously behind him. His minions below him bowed in fear and respect both. Oryx's mouth twisted as it formed the word.] Oryx: Guardians. Hive Knight: How can Crota be slain? How is it possible? The Guardians do not have access to that kind of power. Perhaps, you are mistaken, master? [Oryx slowly turned his towards the Knight that had spoken. Strangely enough, something resembling a smile formed on his mouth. Step by step, Oryx began to descend. His towering figure dwarfed the Knight as he approached. The Knight looked up from his bowed stance as Oryx loomed over him.] Oryx: My son is dead. I know, I felt it. A part of me was in him and, as he was struck down and slain, that part of me left him as well. Do you question me now, slave? Hive Knight: Of course not, master. Oryx: Good. [Oryx brought his arms down, swooping the Knight up off his feet and held him by the throat. The Knight struggled but Oryx was far too strong. The Hive master looked at the pathetic object in his grasp for just a second before tearing its head off and throwing the body aside. He let the head fall to the floor and it rolled around for several seconds before stopping.] Oryx: Prepare the dreadnought. I have stayed out of the way of the light, these Guardians and their Traveler for far too long! In return for my son's life, I will rip the flesh off every Guardian. I will fly to their pathetic home-world and raze it to the ground. I shall burn everything and wipe their existence from the face of the earth. Then, when all is burning around them and their lives come crumbling down, I will pluck their wretched Traveler from the sky and make them watch as I devour it whole! [Oryx let out a deafening, evil scream. Suddenly, the Hive began stirring again and the ship returned to a frantic hub of activity. The control centre began projecting a holographic image of Earth. Oryx climbed back into his throne and watched as the little image slowly rotated. His red eyes studied with intensity as he imagined it all on fire. He then leaned back in his throne, and closed his eyes as his ship made a course for the doomed planet. It made him smile.]
