The community really showed off its inability to read today.
[i][b]Nightfall isn't going away.
Nightfall isn't going to be any easier.
"Not going to orbit," does not translate to, "Strike won't restart."
Weekly Heroic isn't going away. We're literally getting a playlist of only Heroics.
EDIT: Yes, the Nightfull buff is going away, but Bungie is increasing all reputation and XP gains to compensate.
EDIT: If you're so convinced that the Nightfall is defined by being returned to orbit (Apparently to you Nightfall = more loading screens), then just go to orbit when you die. It's that simple.[/b]

Why would they say that they were just removing a loading screen in response to trying to fix people playing too cautiously? Because of their reasons I'm pretty sure that it won't restart the whole strike, however I really hope that it still will.

It gave me instant flashbacks to old school Warcraft, where my inventory was overrun with god awful situational armor. Hey, we're doing Molten Core and the first half of BWL? Bust out the Flarecore fire resist set. Oh we're doing AQ40, gotta go farm Noxxion a few more times for people who need the Nature Resist trinket so we don't wipe on Huhuran. We're moving into Naxx40? Awesome, lemme make sure I have my shadow and frost resist gear at the ready. Just ugh. Having to carry around multiple sets of resist gear was one of the biggest pains in the ass of the vanilla Warcraft era and I had it easy on my main mage. My warrior tank alt had zero inventory space because he had to have resist gear for every damn slot and every possible contingency. Blizzard realized this micromanagement was too much by the launch of Burning Crusade, where they streamlined elemental resists and ultimately got rid of it entirely. I really dislike the notion of having to stockpile solar resist chest armor, arc resist chest armor, and void resist chest armor and keep updating chest armor pieces over the life of the DLC just to make sure I'm not worthless in Nightfalls. As someone who did that years ago, I can tell everyone here it's not going to be enjoyable. You may think it'll be OK but once you realize how much crap you're having to keep around just to switch out for random situational modifiers, you'll start to see how much it sucks.

The thirty second delay will make the other two back off and play 'safe', the opposite of what Bungie are trying to achieve.

Well as it stands the definition of the nightfall modifier is basically if you wipe you go to orbit so technically the nightfall modifier will no longer be a thing

1 ReplyReading comprehension is definitely an issue. Bungee isn't blameless either though. Trying to find a comprehensive list of changes isn't easy. Not all the changes were announced at the same time or even in a rational chronological way. MMOs are probably more sensitive to updates then just about any genre save RTS. Bungee needs to get better about getting all the right info out in easy to find places. Not a mishmash of interviews and weekly updates.

I'm not really getting it. No one wants to play a stupidly cautious activity right; the burn modifiers already provide significant challenge to the activity. I doubt when they use the word compensate that the difference will be equivalent to nightfall buff. The ftard that is speaking is saying we don't want players to play this way - ie - starting their week doing nightfalls so they can get the buff. Since the new game requires xp to level up everything it makes sense that they would nerf xp buffs to slow down your progression or force you to play more to get enough xp to rank. I put 95% of my chips on the fact that xp won't be equivalent and just to hedge, 5% on it will be. It was a lame reason for saying they wanted to get rid of it. I can guarantee that if the high level content is not available without a significant grind - nightfall, raids, iron banner - they you won't find me here after halo 5 comes out. I am not going through the last year again. I am ok with making the noobs grind their way up - not forcing the loyal players to restart the grind.

THANK YOU! I see so many people so upset about NFs like loading screens somehow added to the difficulty yet I saw nothing about the strike never restarting after a wipe.

Did I read it right that you have to beat oryx to do the end game stuff like nightfalls, does that mean that people who haven't bought TTK are completely locked out of nightfalls and heroics? I've bought it on both XB1 and PS4, so it doesn't affect me but still if it's true that's crap

The nightfall I know and love is going...I for one welcomed the change of pace... 'The death penalty of being kicked to orbit often leads to players feeling forced to play too safe, rather than running through the world as a monster killing machine.' I guess I was not playing as intended!
