I would appreciate some insight from Bungie on this, because nerfing gear that's already being outmoded just doesn't make sense. Yes, they'll still be more or less viable in PvP, but I'm sure most players would agree that, at its core, Destiny is a PvE-driven game. With that in mind, 2.0 seems to be aggressively beating a dead horse, and I'm curious as to why that is.
When the 2.0 balance notes were released, I was actually really happy. Yes, some of our favorite OP weapons were getting nudged back to reality (maybe some a little too much), but, overall, it seemed like a much-needed revamp of the current Meta.
However; I was only on board with the nerfs because I assumed that it was preparing Year 1 gear to mesh with Year 2 gear on the same level. Now that it's come to light that ALL Year 1 gear is being left behind at current levels, I'm confused at why so many weapons were nerfed to begin with!
The only way I can see the balancing making sense is if Bungie is, in fact, planning to allow Year 1 gear to be upgraded to Year 2 levels; if not in TTK, then in a future update.
Either way, I think I can safely speak for the rest of the community in saying that Bungie needs to publicly address this issue directly, and stop beating around the bush with vague statements and misdirections. :P

waits for their response, "Oh you can still use them. you just have to infuse them." then we see that it would take burning 8675309 other weapons to raise them to max year two stats.
