Lore-based Discussion About Hunters

For anyone who actually cares about the background and lore behind the game, I'd like to talk about Hunters and what kind of people they are. The Guardians so far as we know were all people with special properties resurrected by Ghosts to serve and protect the people in The City. Though we can only guess at what gifts our characters had before they died which allow them to wield the mystical power of The Light, we can all agree that there are other factors that must play a part in determining what they will become. The notion that it's completely random is acceptable but I want to take a second look at possible reasons that Joe was chosen to be a Titan, Mark was chosen to be a Hunter and Sandra was chosen to be a Warlock. In my mind, my "head canon", when the Ghost reads the viable DNA left in a corpse, it's reading not only the presence of The Light but also the inherent traits within the DNA. Strength, agility, intelligence, all things that we inherit from our predecessors through DNA probably make up the Ghost's mind. In particular, I'm interested in what you think makes up a Hunter. In my own experience with past fantasy and science fiction settings, people who take up the role of Rogue, Sniper, Infiltrator, Scout, Pathfinder, etc often have several traits in common. Traits like a sharp wit and mind, keen senses, an edgy and somewhat dark personality, a lean and somewhat shorter physique, very agile and sneaky, and a lone wolf mentality. It's very hard for me to entertain the idea of a Hunter who's as big and brawny as a Titan or as mystical and aloof as a Warlock, let alone personalities that AREN'T stereotypical. And pertaining to the races available in the game, it's clear every race has it's individuals who meet the criteria I laid out, but that's not what I'm wondering about. Again, what do you think are traits of a Hunter AND do you think there's any way that a person could NOT possess these traits and still be a Hunter? I can just imagine how ineffective the Guardian would be if he was a Titan who decided to swap his Mark for a Cloak, remove half of his armor plating, and try to sneak about like a Hunter. Or a Warlock who swapped out her Bond, picked up a Cloak and tried to NOT sound like a nerd when in the company of other Hunters. :P
