Hey guys, Heli here with an Exotic redesign for year 2. Here's my idea for Dragons Breath:
• Solar flares are now an intrinsic perk.
• redesign the Pyromancer perk:
• holding down the trigger will let you increase the velocity of the rocket (max of 1.5x) and the radius of the flare (max of 2x). (Does not increase blast radius)
• enemies inside the flare have their movement speed decreased by 50%.
Cosmetic/Aesthetic:
• While charging Dragons breath starts to smoke up more and little jets of flame will emit from it's exhaust port when fully charged.
These changes are designed to preserve the original purpose of Dragon's Breath, but allow players control over the size of the solar flare.
Reasoning behind each choice:
• solar flare will be the intrinsic perk because that is how Bungie is retooling exotics.
• charge up is implemented so that players will have control of how they use the weapon, they can choose to rapidly fire three normal solar flares or charge up one big one.
• increasing the velocity with charge up is implemented due to many complaints about Dragon breaths velocity, would make sure the rockets aren't wasted.
• enemies in the solar flare will be slowed, that way people can't just walk in and tank it and bosses will still get the brunt of the damage.
I do not think Tracking, Proximity detonation, or solar flares sticking are reasonable solutions. It takes away from the Weapons original purpose, Proximity messes up the weapon because the rocket will detonate next to the opponent and the solar flare will be useless. And having the Solar Flare stick is not practical, and defeats the purpose of zone control. And tracking is on every other exotic rocket launcher. I am completely against them, so do not bother arguing these points.
Edit: replaced Burn DoT with 50% movement reduction in the solar flare.

Edited by Wasabi Samurai: 9/2/2015 2:32:40 AMMaybe instead of solar grenade, after the explosions, a few fusion grenades appear and stick to its surroundings. This could be useful for bosses, but not much pvp. Another idea, is that you can charge up the dragons breath, and fires three rockets, but they are slower and have less blast radius per rocket. Maybe you could have the option to switch between this perk and another perk.

My idea for redesigning dragons breathe for year two: don't.
-
I think it is the best looking rocket launcher in the game. Will their be a year 2 version?
-
Just make dragons breath a flame cannon.
-
Mhm maybe the same thing as it is right now but with cluster bombs that explode into solar flares when the land...

Fuel beams can't melt steel jet

good ideas! I have an idea for an all new exotic rocket launcher. haven't come up with names or backstory but: stats: RoF: 36 (pretty high) Blast Radius: 43 (pretty low) Velocity: 60 (decent) stability: 87 (pretty high) reload: 14 (you will see why) mag size: 4 (this rocket launcher reloads similar to a shotgun, putting in one shell at a time, with a max of 4 at a time. first perk: tracking perk tree: custom optics perfect balance field scout (plus 2 more rockets, can hold 6 normally) exotic perk: this gun can fire in full auto mode and fires faster the longer the trigger is held not to OP in multiplayer, because one rocket can still kill, and not OP in PvE, because low blast radius requires better aiming. it is designed to take down bosses health quickly

It's fine, all it needs is Vacuum and head-shot capabilities.
-
Why not hold down the fire button and turn it into a flamethrower that has an unreasonable DPS rate and have it nerfed within 2 weeks.
-
Give it Wolfpack rounds. Paint it white and gold.
-
Hold down trigger=3 quick rockets
-
Replace solar flare with Wolfpack rounds. Job done

Edited by Hasnath249: 8/24/2015 9:27:52 PMAfter reading this I want a dragons breath! Is it being taken into year 2? And how long does the solar flare last?
-
This is so awesome! I wish they would change dragons breath to this..
-
Make dragons breath solar flares stick to enemies. Boom. Best exotic.

Edited by SneekySneaker: 8/24/2015 9:55:56 PMEdited*. I'm in all support for a modification to Dragons breath which happen to include a number of things you listed
