Perhaps destiny's story is not all that bad because not having a story is partly intentional. Let me explain my thoughts... I was reading the Osiris grimoire card and it is about how Osiris questioned "why am i constantly shooting things?" Many of us guardians feel the same way. We don't understand why we are always shooting stuff, and we blame bungie and either say that "there was no story or it was cut out and thats why we don't understand whats going on". But maybe we aren't supposed to understand, maybe that was bungies plan. Maybe they want us to keep speculating on why exactly we're fighting enemies who's true purposes we don't really know. Over time we have gained knowledge (we learn who the fallen used to be and that the traveller left them, and that they are chasing it). And in time i feel we will discover more. Under the surface of "we are light we are good, and they are darkness they are bad". there is plenty to suggest all is not as it seems. I think that the original story of destiny is supposed to make you feel the first way, and over the expansions things take a darker turn. And, gradually, as we become more powerful over the course of the expansions, we meet new people, and those who crave more info will dig deeper into lore (similar to osiris and toland). Knowledge is power, and the vanguard seems to dislike those who gain great knowledge. Those who do study the lore (toland, osiris) end up questioning the "goodness" of the traveler, and do not believe things are as black and white as they seem, and that maybe we aren't the good guys. I think down the line a bit the story might get VERY interesting, we might even get exiled from the tower for knowing too much you never know. I can say i am extremely excited to see where the story goes. This is all just my thoughts, for all i know destiny IS just a big "shoot and loot". But i like to have hope that its more than that. If it is more, than this game will definitely become the game everyone wanted it to be.
