CHAPTER XXIV
The Defiler (Part 2)
*BOOM!*
Was the sound that came from Krayzay's shotgun, as he placed another shell into Ugluk's head. The Hive still seemed unfazed by the damage. "I need a weak spot." the hunter thought to himself. "Ghost," he called, "find me a soft spot."
"Scanning now." the machine replied inside the guardian's mind.
Ugluk had completely decimated the chamber while on his rampage to kill Krayzay. He had nearly broken all the weapons that were in the room, making the hunter uneasy. What would happen then? Would the giant Knight turn the battle into a fist brawl? He didn't want to find out. Suddenly The Defiler took a large rock into his hand and threw it at the farthest wall of the room. To Krayzay's surprise and despair, it fell to the ground with a crash, revealing another room full of more weapons.
"You have got to be kidding me." he blurted, and he could've sworn he saw Ugluk smile a hideous Hive smirk.
"I can't find anything on him." Krayzay's ghost informed him, "My scans show that he has no weak points."
"Wonderful." the hunter responded, and the fight resumed.
Meanwhile under a pile of rubble was an extremely small space, in which Morgiana was laying on her back. She could easily break through the pile if she were in peak condition, but after her ghost scanned her, she knew the reality of her situation.
"Three broken ribs on your left, two on your right, multiple organs are ruptured, and some of your vertebral discs are cracked." was its diagnosis.
"Your not in immediate danger," it said, "but you need to stay down until someone can help you to a doctor. That swing from Ugluk could have killed anybody, you're lucky to be alive."
She sat with her back against some rubble silently. Probably because she was in too much pain to speak. All she could do now, while buried under the fallen rocks, was listen to Krayzay battle The Defiler.
"I suppose I was a little reckless..." she said to herself, her ghost turned to listen. She waved her hand informing him she was done with his assistance. The little machine nodded, then vanished into the air.
She placed her right arm over her stomach, cringing from the pain, and feeling her breath flowing in and out of her. Every time she inhaled she felt like her ribs were breaking even more.
Deep down she was irritated. Irritated that she was being useless, and that such a "small injury" could cripple her. She hadn't felt so weak since the day she first woke up on Mars, and the memories of her first years as a guardian came slowly streaming into her mind.
